Toluca, Estado de México: Ovidio Guzmán Reported Transferred to Hospital

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

Several media outlets reported the transfer of 'Chapo' Guzmán's son, Ovidio Guzmán López, alias 'El Ratón', former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, to a hospital in the city of Toluca, allegedly due to some health problems.

Ovidio Guzmán is reported transferred to a hospital in Toluca; here is what is known

On the afternoon of Friday, April 14, several media outlets reported the transfer of 'Chapo' Guzmán's son, Ovidio Guzmán López, alias 'El Ratón', ex-leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, to a hospital in the city of Toluca, supposedly due to some health problems, presented by both him and Teodoro García, leader of the Tijuana Cartel, although this version has been denied.

At around 1:00 p.m., outside the Altiplano prison, a large operation was deployed to allegedly take the son of 'JGL', who has been held there since January 5, after authorities mounted an operation in the community of Jesus Maria, where they managed to apprehend him, unleashing chaos in the area, as there was a response from organized crime.

In response to these reports, the media outlet El Universal reported that everything was false, mentioning that it was the authorities themselves who indicated that 'El Ratón' is still in the maximum security prison, while Infobae argued that upon contacting authorities there, they assured that there is no official information on the operation or on the people transferred to the hospital, which is why they should wait for a communiqué.

It is worth mentioning that just this Friday, the Justice Department of the neighboring United States announced new federal charges for trafficking fentanyl and other drugs against more than twenty members of the Sinaloa Cartel, among which are allegedly involved four sons of 'El Chapo', who have been known as 'Los Chapitos', of which only Ovidio has been apprehended.

This indictment is another example of how this administration is taking on the cartels and their transnational criminal networks, and sending a clear message that we are going to hold them accountable," said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas.

Following this announcement, the Americans increased the reward for Jesús Alfredo and Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, for whom they are now offering 10 million dollars for each one, which is a total of 20 million dollars, converted into Mexican pesos is a little more than 360 million of our national currency, which is quite a considerable amount.

  15. 600,000 dead from fentanyl in the U.S. What did he get? A few fast cars for a few years? Some women for a few years? Has anyone seen the SuperMax prison his father is in? It has a concrete stool for sitting and a cold steel toilet. He gets to go outside into a cage for 30 minutes each day to exercise. Then it is back to isolation. He has no power and there is no way out. El Chapo is giving up everyone in Mexico trying to talk his way out, but he is getting nowhere. Only ONE person in history has ever left a SuperMax alive. He was old and had about a year to live. All of El Chapo's sons will be there soon. Either that or they will be dead. There is millions of U.S. dollars in reward money for their capture and there are a lot of people that will sell them out for that kind of cash and a free ride in the U.S. All they have to do is call the DEA and collect a check. Any person associated with the chapitos will wish they had sided with the U.S. soon, or they could face the SuperMax or death themselves. Sometimes you have to know when to fight, and sometimes you need to know when to call the DEA, cut a deal and save yourself.
