Mexico Extradites An Alleged Arms Trafficker To The U.S.

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

A Mexican national was required by the Federal District Court for the Western District of Texas, to be prosecuted for his probable responsibility in the crimes of criminal association, arms trafficking and smuggling.

In compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between the governments of Mexico and the United States of America, the Attorney General's Office extradited to the U.S. a Mexican national male identified as Carlos T.

According to the authorities, between June 2017 and March 2018, as a possible member of a criminal organization dedicated to arms trafficking, the accused clandestinely introduced firearms into Mexican territory.

For these facts, the FGR requested the Specialized Judge in the Accusatory Penal System in Mexico City, based in the Reclusorio Sur, the arrest warrant for extradition purposes. Subsequently, he was located and detained in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and interned in the mens Reclusorio Preventivo Sur in Mexico City.

The delivery was made at the International Airport of Mexico City to the US agents designated for his transfer to the United States.
