Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua: Protestor Francisco Aguirre Torches Governor Javier Corral Piñata

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

Javier Corral's piñata is burned in the state government and reproaches are thrown at the family de la Vega

Citizens burned a piñata in honor of Javier Corral.

Previously, Francisco Aguirre, the local leader of bars and restaurants dragged the puppet through all the corridors of the state government offices.

Then he took the monkey out of the esplanade and kicked it before setting it on fire. Passers-by approved the protest in their rejection of the tyrant and his partner, the brewing businesswoman Alejandra de la Vega.

Aguirre and his guild were affected by Corral's decisions to keep their businesses closed during the pandemic, while the De La Vega family sold liquor freely during the pandemic.

In Mèhico when people make a figure of people and burn it in public, it is called a "chamuco", preferably hanging from a rope.
