Drug trafficking for 'justice' in Mexico

A Mexican drug cartel named after a medieval order of knights is winning favour among the community where it works, in the state of Michoacan.

The Knights of Templar say they are fighting a war against injustice and poverty, and they have a reputation much stronger than local police.

Meanwhile, they traffic drugs and create harsh and violent punishments for those the organisation deems to be bad for the community.

Al Jazeera's Monica Villamizar reports from the city of Apatzingan in Mexico's Michoacan province.

  4. Love how they pretend that protecting the people is all they do.

  5. Right" They really are just a bunch of meth dealers cooking up poison , self-serving hiding behind a God that would condem such actions.
They may leave the innocent alone but so do others for the most part.

  6. I have mixed thoughts on this one. The organizations (LMF, KT) in Michoacan have always been anti Federal Police, and they do not think the military belongs there either. And this is where Calderon is from! It is kind of funny, because he doesn't seem to favor or support his home state and the people there know and react to this. He rarely claims his home state and doesn't seem to acknowledge this is where he is from but really, he doesn't display pride with being from Mexico either. He takes a stance that through his great ideas, Mexico will be a better place some day even if it is creating chaos, slaughter, rape, robbery, murder, and poverty throughout. The LMF fucked up the Federal Police and Military when they first came marching in to save the state (lol). I have always felt the Mexican Feds have over stepped their boundaries.

I am not for a cartel. I know what they do is absolutely wrong. Our blind sighted ignorance to address the drug problem in the US correctly has created them to the extent that they operate.

I do know, if the US and Mexican governments quit supporting Sinaloa, the cartels would stabilize themselves with truces and we would see peace in Mexico. As long as Calderon keeps beating the drum and the US keeps meddling, we will see more of the same.

Don't think for a minute, when Sinaloa isn't throwing bomb on other plazas, that local cartels don't take pride in protecting the people of their home turf, they do. But Calderon and the Sinaloa connection has created such a rage and disorder, every cartel has lost focus and crime has become the number one order.

If you want to be a cop, you grew up acting like one then you go to school. If you want to be a gangster, you act like one, follow them, idolize them and one day, you may just wake up and be one. Hopefully, if this cartel wants to be perceived as the protecter of the community, it will act like it and wake up some day and be that. The Feds damn sure aren't going too.

Aljazeera has news correspondents all over the world, just like CNN. Wow, didn't you learn something haha! Some Americans need to get out of their little bubble and travel the world. Or better yet read more!

  10. They are doing the same thing the ancient Knights Templars were doing in there time. Killing their way to the top, instead of drugs it was the banking system. Helping the less fortunate, all in the name of God. Trying to wash their sins by being charitable. Spilling blood for the control of their empire gold/dollars..

  14. Its was recently posted on blog del narco,a narcomanta in sinaloa declared the separation of el macho prieto from the sinaloa cartel and he is now with fausto isidro florez meza el chapito aka Beltran Leyva.Macho prietpo was in charge of the sinaloa cartel major and important plazas like culiacan sinaloa and mexicali, baja california. If this is true CDS may risk losing those plazas, also they mention,el cheko the leader of the mexicali plaza was killed in culiacan,el cheko is known to work directly under el macho prieto.

  15. Depending on Prieto's level of influence held in Mexicali, they could definitely risk losing that plaza to the Beltran Leyva's. If however, some of the rumors have been true, and he has been on the sidelines for some time, it may not mean much. And, it could always be just a tactic to cause unrest and instability in the cds.

  16. Macho Prieto has not left the hand that has fed him and protected him in Don Mayo Zambada.
You know what that would mean? His head and everyone elses around him. He is not powerful enough to dismantel himself from Don Mayo Zambada, the Don of Dons. It's all rumors that have been swirling for months now. Whey would he leave the most powerful cartel here or there. He would not live very long running from Don Mayo Zambadas other henchman and to join the BLO's. I don't see it happening since there is a hateful passion there between both cartels. El M1 Manuel Torres Felix would hunt him down himself because the Beltranes killed his son years ago and he still personally enjoys wiping out BL henchman. I just don't see it happening.

  17. They say he ordered the song "Sigo con la misma bandera" when those rumors first came out

  18. 4:07 and el m10 apa?don chapo still cant get him!hahaha you say don mayo like you know him!

  19. Yeah it's true Macho prieto has just left the Sinaloa cartel and formed a new organization with chapo isidro. So el MP is now part of the Beltran leyvas. There's been more gunfights in Sinaloa than those reported, stated on the media. And to 4:07 pm,your dumb when you say he would never leave mayo and chapo, everyone thought the same about the M10 from Durango and look at him his know with Beltran carillo zetas and doing fine,I believe macho prieto would not be scared of anyone he is the leader of sicarios, which means he himself is,was a sicario. This is true, and for the sake of the Sinaloa cartel let's hope he doesn't last long because he could really fuck things up for them, specially if he gets with chapo isidro,chapo/mayo will sure lose areas in Sinaloa.Just cus theres a song out there saying he is still with chapo and mayo doesn't mean shit, things change.El Nayaloense you know when that song came out???

  20. Mexico sucks! Cartels completely run that country. It's time for the US to send troops over to purge it.

  22. Can any news confirm the MP thing? Or is this just still rumors?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ J the Macho Prieto leaving Sinaloa rumors have been going on for 2 months now and still no conformation of it. I think there might be an in fighting in Macho Prieto's crew but noting major, similar to the Flaco infighting.

  24. Do you people really believe the things you say? The US doesn't need to send troops the Mexican military can do the job, it's the corrupted politicians making it very difficult to gain an upperhand. And the rumors about Gonzalo el macho prieto, why in the world would he leave the most glorified and powerful cartel it's proposteris! He's built a legacy and fought many battles for El Chapo why would he bite the hand that feeds him!
