Christopher Landau, US Undersecretary of State, condemned the "glorification" of El Mencho, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), and confirmed the revocation of visas for members of Los Alegres del Barranco following their two concerts in which images of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes were projected.
In a message on his X account, Landau shared a video of the event and noted that, although he "firmly believes in freedom of expression, that does not mean it should be exempt from consequences. The Mexican group Los Alegres del Barranco disseminated images glorifying the drug trafficker 'El Mencho'—leader of the bloody CJNG cartel—at a recent concert in Mexico."
The US official also emphasized that the Trump administration takes its responsibility to regulate foreign access to its territory very seriously, stating that "the State Department has revoked the work and tourist visas of the group's members." "We're not going to roll out the red carpet for those who glorify criminals and terrorists," he added.
To date, the members of the norteño group from San José del Barranco, Badiraguato, have not issued an official statement on the matter.

Mexico City. A blow to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the family of its leader. Federal authorities arrested Abraham Oseguera Cervantes, Don Rodo, brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, El Mencho, and three other people in the town of Atajeas de Covarrubias, in the state of Jalisco.
In a joint operation, members of the Secretariats of Public Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Mexican Navy (Semar), and National Defense (Defensa), managed to capture Don Rodo, who was found to be in possession of weapons, cash, and doses of drugs.
Authorities reported that Abraham Oseguera is considered “responsible for laundering the money of his brother Nemesio Oseguera, through the purchase of ranches, land, and properties, and he also relied on public notaries from Ciudad Guzmán and Autlán de Navarro Jalisco, to manage the name changes of the owners.”
The Security Cabinet indicated: “it is known that his wife Virginia León Osornio invests illicit money in gold mines in the states of Michoacán and Nayarit, with the aim of increasing the financial assets of her brother-in-law Rubén Oseguera”
The arrest was possible by carrying out intelligence actions that included mobile surveillance, and by detecting El Mencho's brother, “who was accompanied by three other members of the criminal group, who were carrying firearms and to prevent any situation that would put citizens at risk, he was stopped.”
They were all transferred to Mexico City and placed at the disposal of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO).

Rosalinda González Valencia, alias "La Jefa", wife of the leader of the New Generation Cartel (CNG), Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, "El Mencho", was released early tonight, after serving more than half of the five-year prison sentence imposed on her at the end of 2023, for the crime of money laundering, her defense reported.
It was a Collegiate Court that rejected the challenge that the Attorney General's Office filed against the sentence that Judge Perla Fabiola Estrada Ayala, of the Federal Criminal Justice Center, residing in Cuernavaca, issued last January in favor of González Valencia, considering that the Michoacan woman had good conduct and had served 69% of her sentence, for which she determined to set her free.
González Valencia left the Federal Center for Social Readaptation for Women in Coatlán del Río, Morelos, accompanied by her lawyer.
González Valencia, arrested for the second time in November 2021, must appear once a month before the Precautionary Measures Supervision Unit, prove to the judge the address where she will reside and the work she will do.
In December 2023, Rosalinda González Valencia was sentenced by a federal judge to five years in prison for her responsibility in the crime of money laundering, in the form of concealment.
According to the sentence, between 2015 and 2016 the Michoacan woman hid operations in a bank account linked to a car wash she had in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
In November 2021, “El Mencho’s” wife was re-arrested for failing to comply with the obligation to sign the book of defendants for two months, for which she was imprisoned in the Federal Center for Social Readaptation (Cefereso) for women located in the municipality of Coatlán del Río, Morelos.
Elements of the Navy arrested her for the first time in 2018, during an operation in the municipality of Zapopan.
The FGR places her as the sister of the financial operators of the criminal group called “Los Cuinis”, founded by Abimael González Valencia, arrested in 2016 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Attorney General's Office (FGR) challenged the order to release Rosalinda González Valencia, wife of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes "El Mencho," leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), so the case will be sent to a Collegiate Court of Appeals.
Víctor Beltrán García, Rosalinda González Valencia's lawyer, reported that the defense has already responded to the arguments that the FGR presented to challenge.
“The response to the grievances of the public ministry has already been presented, it is a benefit that the lady has obtained at this time, because of the time she has served with excellent performance in all the activities that have been imposed on her in this detention center,” he said.
He added that his client does not have another complaint, criminal case or arrest warrant pending against her and explained that the Court of Appeals has three to five business days to resolve the challenge.
According to the lawyer, if the Court confirms the judge's decision, Rosalinda González should be released immediately.
Proceso reported last week that a federal judge granted conditional release to Rosalinda González, who has already served more than half of her five-year prison sentence, which was imposed on her for the crime of money laundering.

Good evening to all the people of Buenavista and its surroundings. As you can see, we are inviting all the people to avoid going out after midnight. Don’t let your young men ride in cars after midnight. Because as you can see, we’re already here and we are against all the scumbags and anyone who is participating in and supporting the Tepeque (Tepalcatepec, Michoacán) mob.
Likewise to La Mancha, Perico, or Robatico. We’re especially coming after these three individuals. The heads of La Mancha or Perico is what we’re wanting. We also want to make this call to all the honest policemen. It’s in your best interest to get out of our way.
We’re planning on hitting every policeman from the town of Tepeque who are out here driving around in their cloned patrol vehicles. The truth is that these men aren’t even real policemen. They have within their ranks Colombian nationals and are unauthorized lawmen. Therefore, we’re coming after these individuals.
