Larry Hernandez' NYE Concert in Tijuana Cancelled After Grenades Thrown

Unknown assailants threw grenades outside the Casa Blanca Entertainment Center, where the corrido singer, Larry Hernández, was planning to perform last night for the New Year's celebration. Local Tijuana authorities canceled the event.

At around 7:00PM in the establishment located on Casa Blanca Boulevard, men traveling aboard a vehicle threw three grenades, according to witnesses. Luckily, the grenades did not explode.

The National Guard cordoned off the area and evacuated the nightclubs while SEDENA bomb techs analyzed and removed the explosives.

An hour later, the singer announced on his social media, that due to what happened, “the government” canceled his concert.

“Unfortunately, the events that just happened in the place where I was going to present tonight, it is impossible to present, the event is canceled by the government, also for the safety of all of you. My team is fine, thank God and I send them a hug. Unfortunately, they are things that are out of one's reach, so I apologize, I send you a hug and well, see you soon, God willing," the singer said in the short video.

The attempted attack in Casablanca was not the first incident in which a narcocorrido singer canceled a performance in the city. In September 2023, several narcomantas appeared threatening Peso Pluma, the most listened-to artist in Mexico last year.

Due to the threats, the October concert in Tijuana was canceled. That cancellation was followed by 5 more in the cities of Acapulco, León, Querétaro, Culiacán, and Puebla.
