Detainees Confess to the Killing & Kidnapping of the 4 Americans in Matamoros

"Socalj" for Borderland Beat

The five men handed over by the Grupo Escorpiones faction of the Gulf Cartel have confessed to their responsibility for the killing of two and kidnapping of two other Americans in Matamoros. The FBI also has an open investigation into the incident.

The FGR has indicted the five people arrested for their alleged participation after they confessed their responsibility before the prosecution. The FGR stated that the men have had proper legal representation during their process of admitting their guilt.

The arrested men were handed over by the Gulf Cartel, specifically by the Grupo Escorpiones faction, which is held responsible. The alleged members of the group were tied up in the middle of the street, in Matamoros, next to a truck with a narco manta apologizing for the events that occurred, assuring that the gunmen "at all times they acted under their own determination and indiscipline."

"Due to the conditions in which five men were found in Matamoros, along with a vehicle and a piece of cardboard, they were initially treated as crime victims, but this quality changed to defendants when they began to report their participation in the events of last March 3, when four American citizens were deprived of their liberty and a young Mexican woman died," reads a statement from the Tamaulipas Public Ministry.

However, it has been pointed out that one of the sicarios seen in the video of the aftermath of the shooting and the kidnapping of the two survivors might not be among those handed over to authorities. Seen in a white shirt and tactical vest, a heavy-set man does not match the body type of any of the five men who have confessed to the attack.

Victim's Past Convictions

While Latavia Washington McGee held a cosmetic surgery appointment on the day of her kidnapping in Mexico, the victims have lengthy past criminal records for various charges including manufacturing, trafficking, and selling narcotics, domestic violence, and possessing weapons in the US.

According to the Arrests.org portal, Woodard and Brown were arrested several times in Florence County, South Carolina. On September 28, 2022, Woodard was arrested for distributing and selling crack cocaine outside a school. Three months later, he was arrested again on similar charges, while in 2019 he was also arrested for violating his probation.

Brown, in turn, was arrested for possession of cocaine, marijuana, and hashish on June 17, 2015, and on July 21, 2019, he was arrested for domestic violence.

Willams also has a criminal record for selling drugs near a school.

Latavia McGee, a mother of six children has been arrested several times in recent years. The last arrest was on January 20, 2022, for illegal conduct toward a minor, when her 8-year-old daughter tested positive for amphetamines.

Areli Pablo Servando, a Mexican citizen was also killed during the shooting and kidnapping.

The Forgotten Victim

Areli Pablo Servando, 33 years old, is the Mexican woman who died from a stray bullet on Friday, March 3 during the shooting and kidnapping of four US citizens, two of whom were later rescued by Mexican authorities.

Relatives and friends are outraged by the way in which the young woman has been ignored by authorities in Mexico and Tamaulipas, who have not even mentioned her name in the count of the people affected in the fateful shooting that occurred on Primera and Lauro Villar streets, from that border. International media also has seemed to treat Areli as a side note with the main focus being on the four Americans.

  1. Of course they did.

Let’s see what else they confess too.

  2. They handed over some poor saps to take the fall. Just need some warm bodies for appearance sakes. Business as usual.

    1. Si en verdad los golfos se arrepienten por sus tarugadas de ese día entonces que le paguen todos los gastos a la familia de Areli. Y si no, es que no más andan por las calles de Matamoros todos mecos como siempre.

  4. Detroit you were 👍 right , they can't match some of the held criminals, with actual ones on videos.
It's quite odd how the government of Obradors work.
What happened to having the PGR, block thier faces? Then thier names were published, yes full last and first names, before they confessed. Funny how the government can do magic at a click of a finger.

    1. PGR has their own rules in regard of pictures, not all media follow these rules, so sometimes you have full names and pictures and sometimes just Jose N. and some blurred pic. There is no conspiracy behind. It was even explained once here at BB. You can blame AMLO for talking bullshit but he is not in charge of Tamps or Matamoros, those are the criminals you have call out.
      DEP ARELI

    2. PGR no longer exists. It is now the FGR. Mexico changes the name of it's law enforcement agencies more often than ELMO changes his underwear.
Mexican media sometimes pay to get access to names and unblurred photos. Also, they may not have blocked their faces when they were placed in their presentations that they are supposed to do. If there is no sanction for media to violate the rules, they will continue.

    3. Granted, a lot of Latin names are very similar. It’s why some of them have like 4 names.

    4. Don't forget that US media doesn't have to obide by those rules. Not only don't they have to but would feel odd and out of place in doing so. It's a foreign concept to not be able to publish names and pictures of suspects in a formal criminal procedure

  5. Dig into the Mexican woman's criminal history. I bet she has a checkered past too. On the real, I'm sorry she lost her life. See how gracious I am. No Mexicans on BB extended condolences to the two slain African-Americans.

I don't believe that Areli had a criminal record. If she did, it most likely would have been reported. She was most likely an honest hard working paisa who happened to be standing at the bus stop at the wrong time.

    4. In the absence of evidence to the contrary, please, it's safe to assume Areli was an innocent, law-abiding victim. Most Mexicans are honest and hard-working people who are disgusted with the crime situation (had a home there 40 years).

I suspect the American victims were not involved in anything nefarious with the cartels, but no denying the circumstances warranted a closer look. In Mexico, they were probably guilty of nothing more than wrong place wrong time with a dash of ignorance. Death is not the penalty for anything they may have been involved in.

It's true that blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime. The FBI statistics bear that out. Blacks make up 13% of the U.S. population, yet commit 54% of all homicides, 51% of all armed robberies and 26% of all rapes and overall about 40% of violent crimes and 30% of property crimes.
However, you cannot hang this criminality on the shoulders of middle class blacks that show up for work everyday and are as good of neighbors as their white counterparts. Most blacks simply are not a part of criminality.
Also, because they were involved in drugs in the past doesn't mean that they are into drugs today. Society must allow them to mature and learn from their past mistakes or they will be stuck in a lifestyle of criminality. We all benefit from individuals learning from their past and maturing past their criminality.
Detroit is 90% black. We have ghetto blacks that make life miserable for everyone. And then we have blacks living in places like Palmer Park who mow their lawns and show up for work everyday and are bothered by the blacks involved in criminality.
I have lived mostly in middle class black neighborhoods so my black neighbors all have had good jobs and have been good neighbors.
Really, it all boils down to where you live. If you live in the ghetto, most of your neighbors will be ghetto, white, black, brown or otherwise.
If you live in a solidly middle class neighborhood, your neighbors will have middle class values.
It's undeniable that these young men have made past mistakes. The F.B.I. knows a lot more than we do about this case. Our knowledge is limited to what is reported in the media and posted on social media which is largely inaccurate and unreliable. The F.B.I. is talking to the victims, the suspects and their families and friends. They have a pretty good grasp of the facts.
The F.B.I. has repeatedly stated that these individuals were not involved in criminal conduct. I will believe the F.B.I. over what many of these clowns post here anyday.
Their criminal histories have nothing to do with what occurred in Mexico.

She did not get the media attention as the 4 US citizens did, what a disgrace.

  6. I don't think they went to scoop up any work.. and if they did.. they were killied by the rivals. For buying from the enemy. Also yes they can have long criminal records, but that doesn't mean anything. How many people go to Mexico everyday with criminal records? Also how many people come in to the U.S illegally with criminal records? A lot... Dosent mean they are here to buy loads of drugs. A lot of them just need a fresh start

  7. Has anyone actually matched up the 5 given up to those from the video?

  8. I doubt the FBI will play along if it was patsy's offered up for justice. You can be sure they are doing forensic analysis on the available video. As for the heavier man, maybe he was too important to give up...

  9. Based on her criminal record Latavia did not even care about her own children . After all the fatherless offspring are only a means to avoid going to work

    1. The girl was the only one of her children to test positive for drugs and tested positive repeatedly. This is frequently done when some clown wants to have sex with the child. There's not enough information out there to determine the context of the girl testing positive for drugs.

  11. The absence of the fat man casts suspicion on the guilt of the people turned in. Better match faces on the unblurred video to be sure. I'm sure that at least one of the "suspects" who confessed was not at the scene and were threatened with the death of themselves and their families if they didn't "confess".

There was no shootout. No weapons were recovered from the victims and the videos only show them trying to escape the attack. Either the media needs to get their facts straight or they are engaging in yellow journalism.

    3. 7:30 They weren't trying to escape no attack. They started to run when they were being stopped. Their attempted escape is what led to the attack.

    2. You sound like a real bitch, anyone who is American & gets smoked in mexico will get their dirty laundry aired out so the American media doesnt paint out a different picture. Very rarely cartels will do this to innocent people. What has happened in the past is local Mexican criminals not related to cartels will kidnap and kill Americans in places like tijuana

      Delete
    3. They think that indicates that they were there to buy drugs which is pretty silly tbh but I can see how on a superficial level if framed and worded a certain way the brain can automatically make that connection. People with lengthy records go to Mexico all the time though and very very rarely is it to pick up work given all the people who do actually go.

    4. Why are you going anonymous?
