"Mayito Gordo" Zambada Released from US Federal Prison in California

 "Socalj" for Borderland Beat

"Mayito Gordo" was the third Zambada son to face US authorities for drug trafficking. And the fourth family member to be released from a US prison.

Ismael Zambada Imperial, El Mayito Gordo, was released after serving a nine-year sentence set by a judge of the Southern District Court of California.

In this way, the last of the heirs of Ismael Zambada García, El Mayo, who was behind bars, has already returned to the streets. This is how it was planned a month ago that the punishment was imposed, since the penalty contemplated the time that Zambada Imperial spent behind bars, since his capture in Sinaloa in 2014.

According to reports, Mayito Gordo left a medium-security prison where he was in California. The release was confirmed by the United States Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).

On June 24, when Mayito Gordo was sentenced to 108 months in prison, Judge Danna Sabraw considered that the sentence was sufficient and not more than necessary. The defendant had already pleaded guilty in 2021 to two charges for introducing drugs as a member of the Sinaloa Cartel led by his father.

The US government charged "El Mayito Gordo" with two counts of trafficking large shipments of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and marijuana from Mexico for distribution in the United States between May 2005 and July 2014.

His father “El Mayo”, his brother Ismael Zambada-Sicairos, alias “El Mayito Flaco”, and the son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzman, Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, are also mentioned in that case.

“You admit that you became a leader within the Sinaloa Cartel and were responsible for various aspects of the cartel's operations, specifically you admit in the (guilt) agreement that you coordinated and organized with other members of the Sinaloa Cartel the transportation and the distribution of large amounts of illicit substances, including cocaine, heroin, and marijuana for importation from Mexico to the United States,” Judge Dana Sabraw said at the hearing in which the son of “El Mayo” pleaded guilty in April 2021.

Zambada Imperial also accepted that he had cartel hitmen under his command. "He also admits that he ordered violent acts as members of the Sinaloa Cartel, for the benefit of drug smuggling activities," the magistrate mentioned then.

“El Mayito Gordo” was extradited in December 2019 and in his first appearance in a federal court in San Diego he pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His older brother Vicente Zambada Niebla, alias 'El Vicentillo', was sentenced in 2019 to 15 years in prison and is now free. He was 'El Vicentillo' one of the star witnesses in the trial of "El Chapo" Guzmán.

His uncle, Jesús Zambada García, alias 'El Rey', also testified against Guzmán in a federal court in Brooklyn and who ceased to be in the custody of the US government for a little over a year.

Another member of this criminal dynasty, Serafín Zambada Ortiz, who was born in California, was sentenced in 2018 to five and a half years in prison for trafficking cocaine and marijuana to the United States. A judge handed down a less severe punishment considering his youth and his “genuine remorse”. He was arrested in 2013 at a port of entry in Nogales, Arizona. The prosecutors sought to reduce the sentence due to the cooperation that Zambada Imperial provided with the North American authorities. Now he has three years of supervised release remaining, but if he is allowed to return to Mexico or is deported, that supervision will no longer be an issue in the US.

The mayatitos are lucky they are in the cds in that cartel snitching is allowed so nothing is gonna happen to them, if they were in any other cartel they wouldnt be so open about snitching, cds takes the golden medal for snitching by a long shot, the nearest cartel is about 20 years away from reaching the level of snitching cds has done

  18. Mayo staying out of prison has had its price indirectly, and very likely, directly. His family and anyone who has ever worked with him needs to rethink how this legend of the narco world has never been in a jail cell. Either he gives one up directly or one pays some of the penance on his behalf. Not sure why chapo snitched guy chose to write that, most likely, mayo did, on chapo in mazatlan and god knows how many else, his brother, macho, ondeado, in a way, chino and ovidio (no assistance when needed or he agreed to give them up without a fight). What’s more likely looking back, chapo or mayo snitched on the beltran’s load and brothers?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I always felt it was mayo who played Chapo and Arturo,he most definitely setup mochomo look at his brother el Rey getting busted in DF and the beltrans loosing Toluca airport. Can't be a coincidence

      Delete
    2. Exactly, seems like Mayo actually backstabs his people but nobody wants to acknowledge it. Everybody around him falls while his son's get sweet deals. It is said he negotiated the menores release but also Chapo was still in Mexico, even if imprisoned, aslong as he's in the country he's in the picture. Now that he is in the USA, he didn't even want to provide Ovidio some support. He didn't even backed Chino Anthrax nor Ruso even tho both had been extremely loyal to Zambada

  20. El Mayo Zambada - I assume - understood the game earlier on. As he got bigger he realized you can’t fight US gov, so why not work with them? He knew his fate in that business - so he played the game. His kids did time but are now “legally free” of his crimes. And with All the ppl/routes/drugs he gave up, they’re probably good even after he dies. Not celebrating or dick riding - just objective point of view. What do all you 13 year olds think?

    ReplyDelete
  21. It’s pretty wild you can admit to trafficking large quantity of drugs and having hit men under you which means they have all participated in murder and somehow get less than a decade in prison. Some junkie who gets caught with like a oz of hard drugs will get the same sentence. I also don’t understand how mayos whole family testify against chapo and that doesn’t cause a major rift in the cartel. Very strange.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. junkies don't have the money to defend themselves or any useful information for the law to use. major narcos have both that's why

      Delete
    2. I think Chapo had so much people testifying that , El chapo didn't care who testified against him to save their skins because he knew he wasn't getting out regardless

      Delete
    3. Well Chapos defense admitted that Mayo was the actual leader, and Chapos sons don't have the power nowhere near what their dad had so they can't go against Mayo, so most likely they can't go against his son's, Vicente being older and more experienced was already a powerful leader while they were still kids. That doesn't mean that they're ok with it, as soon as Chino returned they got him because they knew Mayo wouldn't back him up.

Everyone snitches, maybes not to Tue feds (as these guys did) but also within their cells… survival of the fittest.
