14 Highly Engineered 'Chapo' Guzman-Style 'Drug Tunnels' Located On U.S.-Mexico Border

 "Ivan" for Borderland Beat

Since 2016 to date, authorities have located 14 highly-engineered "narcotunnels" along the 3,152 kilometers of the US-Mexico border, through which drugs, weapons and people cross, in the style of Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman.

According to the newspaper Milenio, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) has found the "passages" hidden in small farms, modest houses and warehouses; of these, six have been located in the city of Tijuana; three in Mexicali; two in Nogales, and one each in Tecate, San Luis Río Colorado and Matamoros.

Two of the "narcotunnels" discovered in Tijuana were found recently, the first one on May 18 inside a supposedly abandoned house, located on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Street, in the Nueva Tijuana neighborhood.

The last one was found last June 8 about 50 meters from the first one, on the same street; both were 300 meters long and about 25 meters deep, and ended in U.S. territory.

The two tunnels that have been described as "Chapo Guzmán style" had steel beams to prevent them from collapsing, rails that allowed the mobility of steel carts, electrical power, lamps and ventilation.

Following the finding, six people were captured on drug trafficking charges and are subject to legal proceedings.

Former Sinaloa Cartel leader Joaquín Guzmán Loera escaped from Altiplano Prison, Mexico's maximum security prison, on July 11, 2015, through a 1.5-kilometer tunnel connecting the cell bathroom to a makeshift safe house.

Upon the first walk-through, authorities confirmed that the tunnel had sophisticated, high-tech engineering and financial elements. The person who developed the tunnel, according to the Mexican government, had access to the prison's construction plans, leading authorities to presume that the Sinaloa Cartel was behind the subway corridors.

  5. There you go, Chapo style. If catalyst converters were discovered, they’d say ‘Mencho style’. Snitching or no snitching, CDS are the Amazon of the industry. CJNG are just a corner shop.

  6. Cds has the fame for doing that because of the tunnel he escaped from but major cartels have the money and the resources to built them too.
The media don't know what they say half the time anyways. Everything that makes it big in the news related to drug dealing they automatically say it's CDS 😆 I remember when there was a big bust in California with members from LA familia michoacana with gangsters from different gangs tied to that cartel and the media Saud it was a big CDS bust..
Chapo and CDS are house hold names while other cartels are unknown for most people and that's how they like it.
No other cartel has more corridos and songs than CDS. Not because they make them randomly but because the singers get contacted to sing a corrido or else their dead meat..
