Police Chief Killed During An Ambush In Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua

The attack occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. on the federal highway between the municipalities of Janos and Ascensión and at least five people died at the scene, including the ministerial commander, an agent and three civilians.

The Attorney General of the State of Chihuahua confirmed that this Friday afternoon the first commander of the State Investigation Agency, Alejandro Domínguez Cabriales, assigned to the northwest zone, died in an ambush.

The armed attack against agents of the ministerial police of the Chihuahua Prosecutor's Office left five dead, including three civilians.

The attack occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. on federal highway 2 Ciudad Juárez-Agua Prieta, Sonora, between the municipalities of Janos and Ascensión, about 180 kilometers from Ciudad Juárez.

According to the first inquiries, the first commander of the Ministerial Police, Alejandro Domínguez Cabriales, and his escort were traveling in several vans from Nuevo Casas Grandes, bound for Ciudad Juárez, but were ambushed by an armed group that attacked them with shots from different points in the area known as El Peñasco.

At least five people died at the scene, including the ministerial commander, an agent and three civilians, who were passing by in their vehicles at the time of the attack.

The Chihuahua Prosecutor's Office reported in a statement that it is carrying out search operations for the aggressors and also condemned "the cowardly and cunning crime committed against the First Commander of the State Investigation Agency in the Northwest Zone, Alejandro D. C., and the officer Gil Manuel M. S., which occurred this Friday afternoon on the Janos – Ascención highway”
