Durango: Guano Guzman Hitmen Employing Too Much Overkill

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

Aureliano Guzmán-Loera aka "El Guano" is a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel and the brother of former Sinaloa Cartel leader Joaquin Guzmán-Loera.

Under the umbrella of the Sinaloa Cartel, Aureliano Guzman’s drug trafficking organization (DTO) controls drug smuggling routes from Sinaloa, Mexico, through Sonora, Mexico, and into the United States.

Hitmen under the command of "Guano Guzmán" massacre one of his rivals who was killed after a confrontation in the Sierra de Durango.

    1. According to the DEA, he has a vast smuggling network spanning Mexico, Arizona and Texas.

He's not a megalomaniac like his brother and he's smarter like Mayo, staying in the shadows content with just being rich as hell.

  2. One of those cool things about driving through the mountains in Durango. Is that when you’re at the top looking down you can actually see the clouds below you.

    4. Sol I thought that cartels have surveillance nests in the mountains to overwatch avenues of approach. Is it safe to travel through the mountains of Durango? Perhaps I'm overstating cartel influence.

    5. I am from Durango, and yes, there checkpoints, but those are meant for enemies or for people who try to smuggle drugs. Normal civilian no problem. Used to live in el Salto, there with 1000 pesos you get a kilo worth of meth, some people try to buy drugs there and try to smuggle it to the city were a little shitty bag is worth 150 pesos, with a kilo you can get about a 100 of those bags, 100 bags in 150 pesos is about 15k. In the end, answering your question, yes you can travel the whole sierra of Durango as long you are not doing nothing wrong.

    6. @ James Brown during the holidays many of us just take a bus directly to where we have to go. Followed by a taxi. While others tend to fly in and proceed from there in a cab or because a family member picks them up. As long as you’re not involved in shady business you’re good to go. It’s really not complicated to travel in Mexico. There’s obviously certain places you can’t travel through if you’re not related to someone in the area. But if someone vouches for you then you’re good.

    7. @chuy913 how can there be a 15 times markup in that little distance? I'm not doubting your words at all, just really surprised there could be such a price range. Sounds like whoever holds the meth in el Salto is missing out on a lot of profit.

    8. That's what I always ask my self. Where I live Meth is illegal, if you consume it and get caught doing in it, first penalty is just a small beating, second time you get a really good beat up with a 2x4 and get annexed, you get put in a drug addict facility, third act you get killed, i am talking you about 40 minutes away from the city, in the city and nearby towns meth is legal 150 pesos, even sell meth pipes in stores and about every where. I don't really know why is so cheap in those areas (el salto,Sierra) maybe because they are closer to culiacan, or maybe rural area. Like I mentioned, if you get caught doing that, taking meth from el salto to Durango you get killed, that's a chapulin.

    9. Durango, Durango is known for meth junkies.
      From little kids to teenagers
      CDS sells anybody meth..
I saw a documentary on it, Bunch of kids just strung out on meth and it's like a natural thing for them.
It's weird you say outside the city they don't sell. I would think it's the other way around 🤔
