Mexican Foreign Minister
Marcelo Ebrard informed that they are going to work with the United States
Government to recover the assets of convicted drug trafficker Joaquin "El Chapo"
Guzmán.
At a press conference,
Marcelo Ebrard, informed that it will be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE),
the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) and the Attorney General of the Republic
(FGR) that will participate in the recovery of said assets.
"The assets of the
criminal organization recovered by
Mexico will be made available for other
purposes," said Marcelo.
In addition, he affirmed
that the Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, says he knows that the work must be a binational
effort, since the "El Chapo" process was carried out in North
America.
"In the end, we will
reach a negotiation with the United States to distribute the recovered assets,
because the United States will not keep everything, nor will Mexico," the
foreign minister stressed.
On the other hand, the
foreign minister said that they do not have an exact figure of the assets that
Guzmán Loera has , however, "there are estimates of 12 or 15 billion
dollars."

So i really dont understand. Do they have recovered $$$ or not.because in the beginning of Chapos court they said they didn't recover any money and know that he got sentenced ther fighting for his money???or just assets no money
ReplyDeleteAssets can be houses, cars, properties, businesses that are tied ditrectly to him, they probably have frozen bank accounts and some other assets but now they will begin to recover, sell, auction and do whatever is necessary to turn that into money. Plus, I am sure they also have a ton of cash too.
