Captured in Tamaulipas "El Contador", a leader of the Cartel del Golfo

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Noreste article

Subject Matter: Jose Alfredo Cardenas Martinez, El Contador
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

Reporter: La Jornada
Elements of the Marines detained in Tamaulipas, Jose Alfredo Cardenas Martinez, alias "El Contador", identified as one of the leaders of the Cartel del Golfo, and nephew of the ex leader of this group, Osiel Cardenas Guillen.

Even though he is not on the list of 122 priority objectives of the Federal Government, achieving his capture is considered highly relevant to the Cabinet of Federal Security.

Cardenas Martinez, also known by the alias "El Sobrino", was identified by the DEA as one of the principal leaders of the group together with Jose Antonio Romo Lopez, and plaza boss in Tamaulipas.

He was detained in the San Francisco fraccionamiento during an operation that started Sunday night.

According to Federal Forces, in the past year, Cardenas Martinez has been in dispute for control of this criminal group with Luis Alberto Blanco Flores, alias M28, or Commandante Pelochas, who is also linked with the same cartel. Also in the past year, there have been many registered gun battles in Reynosa between members of these two groups.

  1. That sucks. I’m from Matamoros and ever since he took over the city everything was under control like the old times.

  5. Great job Otis on keeping us informed. Even though he wasn't on the 122 list, glad to know another one was picked up. It seems like Mexico is really picking up a lot more bad dudes. Congratulations to them. Can you explain why all of a sudden so many have been picked up? Have there been people talking who have been detained? Thanks again Otis and BB. Peace.

    1. Probably because we are coming up to election time in Mexico, this traditionally is the time when existing deals go south real quick, as new politicos coming in do not necessarily have the same deals. As well as a glut of arrests, expect to see an escalating toll of dead politicians, and mayors.

But a relationship to the family of El Tata, General Lazaro Cardenas, who stuck it to the cristeros after the revolution, and to the gringos, the rockefellers and the brits with the nationalization of Mexican oil as President, who also founded the Greatest Steelworks in the world at Las Truchas Michuakan later called Siderurgica Lazaro Cardenas now owned by the Arcelor-Mittal Satrapy who recovered it as revenge...
--El Tata as Minister of War also forgave "El Gitano Valdez" gramps of La Barbie for murdering General Loaeza governor of Sinaloa because another general gave him the contract, they all go back a long way, El Gitano became a guardia blanca watching pemex against huachicoleros
