Five Mexican Army officers have been ordered to detention by an unidentified Mexican federal district judge, according to Mexican news accounts.

According to an article posted on the website of Milenio news daily, among the officers ordered detained were retired General de Division Tomas Angeles Dauahare, retired General de Division Ricardo Escorcia Vargas, retired General de Brigadier Roberto Dawe Gonzalez, retired Lieutenant Colonel Silvio Isidro de Jesus Hernandez Soto and Major Ivan Reyna Muñoz.

All five are charged with a nexus to organized crime to commit crimes against health.

According to a report posted on the website of La Jornada En Linea news daily, the army officers are charged with protecting elements of the Beltran-Leyva drug cartel including Edgar Valdez Villarreal, Gerardo Alvarez Vazquez, and their cocaine trade.

The five officers are ordered to be detained for 80 days while investigations and trials are conducted.  This form of detention is routine in high profile drug cases but the length of this detention is double what is considered normal.

General de Divsion Angeles Dauahare became an issue on last springs's Mexican presidential election as it was found he was on a slate of at large legislative candidates for the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI)  PRI went on to win crushing electoral victories throughout Mexican everywhere, but in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

  9. BBAdmin please keep up with the border goings on on the USA side.
i would like you to collect and list in the links section all the immediate border news tv stations as well as the newspapers. some that come to mind are kgbt, krgv tv and brownsville herald and the monitor newspapers all cover from the tip of brownsville through rio grande city i believe.
their is a continuous string of stories that tie into mexican drug cartels. these stories are happening here on the US side.
i also see stories that BB did not see or did not list. as in
ROMA - Federal investigators are trying to find out who kidnapped a couple and their child in Mexico.

FBI agents said the baby was rescued in the border city of Miguel Aleman, but they have no clues on the couple's location."
    or
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano replied, "There have been. And the Ababziar matter would be one I would refer to that's currently being adjudicated in the criminal courts."

  11. People; especialy American Gringo's; have No Idea
on what life is like "South of the Border" People in Mexico and Central America live in Constant fear
of either being murdered themselves,or their families or kids, wives, grand kids..! You name it, and it can happen in a blink of an eye..! You cannot trust the People in Authority such as the Police or Fed's or even the Army. Almost all the politico's are corrupt and the ones that are not have (No power) to help you in anyway possible. If you write a blog; complaining on what go's on in your village or city. you cannot sign your name or your going to be most likely tortured and killed in the most horrid
way the perpetrators can think of to make an example of you. So with all this in mind; it definately "Boggles The Mind" to read these people that are living in the states, suggesting
that everybody is corrupt and the "Honest" ones should take the "Scumbags" that are running this
"Felini Movie" we call Mexico; to the Local courthouse and press charges..! Whoever you are writing these barbs.. Get Fawkuuun Real will ya.!
