The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) seized around 400 kilograms of cocaine that were transported in an aircraft from South America and whose cargo was transferred to a vehicle in Oaxaca.

According to the official report, agents of the Mexican Army and Air Force maintained a procedure of surveillance and protection of the national airspace, when they registered the air unit that was flying illegally. But later they lost it from the radar in the vicinity of Arriaga, Chiapas.

"Immediately, ground and airborne reaction forces were activated," said Sedena, not registering activity by the suspicious unit. When deploying the operation, the agents detected two moving trucks near the area where contact had been lost. The drivers of the vehicles, noticing the military persecution, abandoned one of the cars and fled in the other in the community of San Pedro Tepanatepec, Oaxaca.

After a search, 400 packages of approximately 1 kilogram of cocaine each were found in the bed of the truck. Later, the soldiers carried out reconnaissance work and found the second unit used by the alleged criminals to flee the area.
