Cartel Members Kidnap and Kill Criminal Defense Lawyer in Tonalá, Jalisco

"MX" for Borderland Beat

On Wednesday of last week, unknown subjects kidnapped Juan Ramon Valadez Hernandez, a criminal defense lawyer and university professor who was driving a gray BMW car at a road crossing in Tonalá, Jalisco.

Witnesseses said that the culprits blocked the driver's way with two vehicles; they shot the lawyer's vehicle, took him out of his car, put him in the trunk of a truck and then drove away. The incident was captured on camera and shared on social media.

Investigators say that there is already formal complaint filed by his relatives. They are providing the few details regarding what may have happened. The motive is unclear at this time but investigators believe it may be related to victim's profession.

“We are considering that he may have been kidnapped for his professional activities as a penal attorney. But there are not many advances in the investigation so far”, the Jalisco Attorney General said.

On Friday, authorities found a dead man in Tonala that may be the attorney. The body had wounds on the upper part of the back, apparently produced by a firearm projectile. In addition, he had a bandage that covered his abdomen and lower back.

Personnel from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences, when handling the body, found the lawyer's business cards, as well as a professional license from the state of Jalisco, a driver's license, a teaching credential and other documents, all in the name of Juan Ramón Valadez.

    3. Im reading from the Philippines if this was a real life cockfight im betting my money on Menchos soldiers .Mencho soon its all yours my advice is stay dirty cause in the underworld clean doesnt last long. Look at Pablo Escobar (He cared for his whole country) his death wasn't because of drug trafficking murders or violence the truth is off his ill gotten proceeds he wanted to help and do good by paying off Colombias total debt to the central bank and anyone that have at least 1 brain cell once you pay off your debt your not obligated and your out there pocket . think about it you think the central bank would allow that . remember in the UNDERWORLD stay dirty change of heart and doing too much good helping others will get you killed really FAST.

    5. @10:40 Stfu, Escobar died because he became a narco terrorist and started to bomb innocents. He did care for the poor people but he became a monster when he realized that he couldn't become El Presidente. He was used as an example for any other narco of the time that wanted to support the commies.

Caro Quintero also wanted to pay the external debt of Mexico which cannot happen, there is a global mob that rules countries through those external debts.

Back on topic, Mencho's soldiers are a fantasy, recruited people from Colombia or far sierras of the south that soon enough will understand that fighting CDS is not a sure bet and will leave the CJNG rows, just wait and see. They will become just like the Z and end up as small time pushers and extortionists.

The thing is that CJNG doesn't really have a stronghold outside of Los Altos and El Grullo areas close to Colima, so when the empire crumbles, it will be very easy for the gov to hunt them down. Zetas and them didn't get completely exterminated as they control ports and border areas while Mencho has nothing on lock.

Eventually when his people flips on him they will easily loose Colima and Nayarit.

Research for the term "llamarada de petate", don't compare this type of organization to one that has lasted around fifty years at least on top of the game.

    Thank you.

I hear there is currently a gun fight on the river west of Catarina between the cartel and the Mexican military. Border patrol is supposed to be on our side at the ready In case cartel members cross the river. Anyone confirm?

  7. Rather than filming couldn’t he call the cops? Then again the cops may be the kidnappers.

  8. These cartel jerkoffs are all cowards. It's not hard to kidnap, terrorize and murder unarmed people when you have all the guns. At least in the U.S. we can shoot back.

  9. Too bad he didn’t use the car to inflict damage on the other cars, and attempt to get himself out of the box.

Once captured, the probability for survival diminishes to almost Zero.
