Oaxaca: Viagras' "El Cuate" killed, operator of the Sierra Santana and the Familia Michoacana

Through social networks, the murder of José Alfredo Núñez Benítez, alias “ El Cuate”, “El Primo”, operator of the Sierra Santana brothers, leaders of “Los Viagras”, linked to The Michoacán Family and close to Servando Gómez Martínez, “La Tuta”, leader of Los Caballeros Templarios.

On February 24, 2019, military forces in conjunction with elements of the State Police managed to arrest El "Cuate" in Infiernillo, Arteaga, where he was head of the plaza.

In the state of Oaxaca, he was wanted for assault, robbery and kidnapping, and he had his operations center in Puerto Escondido.

State authorities from Michoacán identified Núñez Benítez as an important criminal leader of the Sierra Santana clan for the organization "La Familia Michoacana".

At the time, his capture was in compliance with two arrest warrants for kidnapping that occurred in Michoacán, and he was designated as the leader of the plaza in Infiernillo, as well as having participated in millionaire extortions in the Union. Guerrero and in the Lázaro Cárdenas area, Michoacán.



 "El Cuate" represented the connections of the criminal group Los Viagras in its reorganization with other criminal groups unified to the La Familia Michoacana Cartel, likewise and according to pending investigations, the one also known as "El Diez and  Ocho" was sought since 2012, when together with Mariano Sierra Santana and Rodolfo Sierra Santana they were part of the armed arm of Servando Gómez Martínez “La Tuta” who was leading the Los Caballeros Templarios cartel.

Among his antecedents in Michoacán and Guerrero are the participation in 4 ambushes of federal and military elements, a massacre in La Huacana, ambushes and assassinations of self-defense groups in Infiernillo and Coahuayutla, in addition to the disappearance of at least 21 people who were never located.

It was revealed that the murder of Alfredo Núñez “El Cuate” took place in the state of Oaxaca, where he was allegedly being imprisoned.
