U.S. and Mexico will work together to recover El Chapo's assets

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat from Vanguardia

"In the end, we will reach a negotiation with the United States to distribute the recovered assets, because the United States will not keep everything, nor will Mexico……."

Marcelo Ebrard reported that the money and property recovered from "El Chapo" will be made available "for other purposes"

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard informed that they are going to work with the United States Government to recover the assets of convicted  drug trafficker Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán.

At a press conference, Marcelo Ebrard, informed that it will be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) and the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) that will participate in the recovery of said assets.

"The assets of the criminal organization  recovered by Mexico will be  made available for other purposes," said Marcelo.

In addition, he affirmed that the Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, says  he knows that the work must be a binational effort, since the "El Chapo" process was carried out in North America.

"In the end, we will reach a negotiation with the United States to distribute the recovered assets, because the United States will not keep everything, nor will Mexico," the foreign minister stressed.

On the other hand, the foreign minister said that they do not have an exact figure of the assets that Guzmán Loera has , however, "there are estimates of 12 or 15 billion dollars."

    1. Assets can be houses, cars, properties, businesses that are tied ditrectly to him, they probably have frozen bank accounts and some other assets but now they will begin to recover, sell, auction and do whatever is necessary to turn that into money. Plus, I am sure they also have a ton of cash too.

    2. Exactly don't ever believe a word they say because the whole Chapo thing was just so they could get his money cuz what about the other cartels out there

    3. Capos are usually betrayed by their partners who imprison and steal all they can from them, greed is the poison by which all of them die.

    3. Only Mexico should keep the entire forfeiture, why because he is of Mexican origin. They can use it for positive outcomes. Example :to fund further drug wars and open clinics and upgrade the country's infrastructures. Come on people,USA doesn't really need it. They chose to meddle in something they originally created.

    7. The US already invested about 36 billion dollars in their war ON drugs version Mexico, during EPN and the FECALATO, much of it paid to their favorite mercenaries like Blackwater and GEO including the million dollar prize money paid for capturing EL Chapo AGAIN.
I doubt his assets will cover much of that "expense" to the American People, we'll see what Mencho Hunt brings.

    8. 9:01 Mexico's share is the usual, weapons for both sides, law enforcement helped by foreign mercenaries and their rival, criminal narcos, grameros, kidnappers for ransom, and "Mexican states attorneys and other politicians" travels to the US where they can be arrested and extorted for all the money that can be found, like Edgar "el Demonio" Veytia.

  16. So they are going to empty the bank accounts of the former president and all other corrupt scum?? I mean that is where a lot of chapos earnings went. 15 billions is laughable. typical united states of corruption bs. first they let chapo run wild then put him in prison and steal his money. Not one cent will go to drug rehab it will just vanish in to the black budget.

    1. Exactly with Geo tracking technology they knew years ago about his whereabouts but made it seem as if México was the ones not trying to give him up they let him build a fortune just to come in and steal it basically just like they have stolen land to fund this corrupt country.

      Delete
    2. 12:20 you can't just up and build a fortune from moving US owned drugs to the border or even to the US because the military and navy/marine air bases and States landing strips are being spied on by greedy State Police that then go on snitching when they are not happy with their loot, moving drugs pays very little money, just a little more than the farmers make, many of them are just slaves working not to get killed. It is just a business like almost every other, lowly slaves and their mule skinners at the bottom feed on table scraps, at Chapo level they have to fight with competition trying to steal their turf and the consignments.
--There may be a reason big banks get more and bigger fines than capos who invest in a taqueria here or there...
Persecutors of Mexican Capos on the US know perfectly not to bother their big bankster brothers in crime, some like Deutsche Bank will pay for their many sins.
