Chapitos & CJNG fight for the Heroin Crown

Translated by Chuck B Almada for Borderland Beat from an El Debate article
Sunday 25, September, 2016

According to a DEA spokesperson, Sinaloa Cartel and CJNG have fought several battles in the US in a fight for territory.

United States- Despite their leader’s capture, the Sinaloa Cartel, which is now presumably under the command of Chapo’s sons, continues to be one of the major threats towards the US as the trafficking of heroin continues to increase. During an interview, DEA spokesperson, Russell K. Baer said that Sinaloa Cartel and CJNG are fighting for the crown of heroin in the US, a territory which was dominated by Colombian groups in the past.

”El Chapo might be in custody and perhaps even stripped from power, but his sons are very involved in the criminal activities of the cartel” says Baer

Mexico is also being fought in the US, where CJNG has increased its wealth, influence, and ability to traffic drugs.

According to the spokesperson of the DEA, the heads of one of the factions of the Sinaloa Cartel are the two sons of El Chapo: Ivan Archivaldo Guzman AKA El Chapito, and Jesus Alfredo Guzman AKA El Afredillo (Alfredillo was kidnapped and eventually freed by CJNG last month). Despite the fight between both cartels, the group native of La Tuna, Badiraguato, Sinaloa continues being the group that has circulated the most drugs in American territory. For this same reason, the fight that these two cartels have fought in

According to the DEA, during the last few years, Mexican cartels have now taken over the role that Colombian cartels such as Medellin and Cali used to have during decades in the past. Historically, the heroin market in the US had been divided by the Mississippi river with Mexican brown or black heroin in the west and white heroin in the east. The white heroin was first introduced from Asia and then from Colombia between 1997 and 2010 according to the latest DEA report published in June.

Despite this, Mexican cartels have learned how to produce white heroin in the last few years and have become the most powerful suppliers of some major cities in the east coast such as Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington. This has almost caused the complete elimination of the traditional Mississippi line that separated the types of heroin. Its new power in the drug market is such that in 2014, 79% of the heroin analyzed by the DEA originated from Mexico. With the Colombian groups almost wiped off the map, Mexican criminals have found an unexpected ally in China, according to Baer.

The DEA spokesperson said that the criminals from Mexico and China are responsible for the arrival of fentanyl to the US. Fentanyl is an extremely potent analgesic that is between 30 and 50 times stronger than heroin (fentanyl is what is suspected of causing the overdose and subsequent death of singer Prince).

“Fentanyl is being manufactured primarily in clandestine Chinese labs. We also believe that fentanyl is being manufactured in Mexico as well. We are seeing Mexican cartels working along with Chinese collaborators to introduce heroin and fentanyl to the US” said Baer.

With the intention of tackling this problem, 14 DEA agents recently traveled to Peking and other provinces in China to meet with a delegation of high ranking Chinese officials. That same Chinese delegation came to the US and met with members of the government, according to Baer. In its latest report, DEA highlighted the threat that heroin represents and that it has continued to increase since 2007 and that in 2014 alone, 10,574 Americans died as a result of an overdose involving this drug. According to authorities, more Americans die from heroin overdoses than from firearms or traffic accidents.

  4. The CDS is under the control of those 2 bozos that got caught slipping in PV? The CDS is a horizontal organization with no single leader that relies on a conglomerate of allies to traffic drugs. Obviously some members are more influential and carry la palabra pesada in the decision making process. These boys aint stupid. They have seen what government does to vertical organization like the Zetas. They mirror a street gang that cant be eradicated...

    1. The thing is a lot of the bigger cells in CDS have been dismantled or severely weakened. Sinaloa switches around every few years from being ran by the BL from ~2000 to 2006-7 to chapo being the leader. I don't think CDS will disappear but its influence won't be what it was 3 years ago.

    2. CDS sphere of influence and business acumen now outweighs all organize crime groups including the Italians who were virtually destroyed by RICO. That's what happens to vertical organizations. Please people take notes.

--The SOA changed its name to WHISCOM, and keeps doing their dirty tricks, soft strikes, low intensity engagements, torture, disappearances and political assassinations as always, in the dark, under cover of friendship, helped by USAID...NO TE HAGAS...

Z1 was a policia federal when he went to tamaulipas to get seduced by osiel, many of his associated were retired from the mexican army too, a few deserted to join their brothers, the mexican army retiree colony in coahuila needed to supplement their meager pensions, they wanted osiel's cdg business or their own, patched up on the side.
Anyway, SOA let their dogs loose again...

  6. I don't see a situation in which CDS comes out winning this time.

My theory is the top families (Zambada, Guzman, Coronel etc) will lose power to big players of the BL and CJNG. Everything will run fine for a few years until one of Tito or Mencho get greedy and break the alliance, causing war along the whole pacific coast of Mexico. Chapos time is up, his kids are morons who are hated in sinaloa due to their greed and lack of empathy. The beltranes, contrary to popular belief are still highly regarded in culiacan by the trafficking community. The ball is in titos court he just needs to play his cards right.

  11. I say fly over these "poor hard working" opium producing farmers in gunships and cut them down in their fields . If life is so tough for them that they have to export their misery end it for them . We need a new set of rules . The rules we have protecting the innocent are what the criminals hide behind . When they start sending their poison out and taking lives , they should be a target . I say trial at a glance and execution in an instant. I bet that slogan alone could garner 1/3 of the American vote when it comes to drugs .

    2. Excuse me sir, if the US market wasn't so demanding Mexico would switch its supply. US and Mexico NEED to work together we are neighbors and we are humble hard working people, we share more commonalities than not. If Americans could stop consuming dope we can work with Mexicans to grow great produce and cattle like they used to do. That is until the demand changed.

    1. 9:13 drugs get sold in America by the gram, the 8 ball, the kilos, cut and mxed, by the plane load or by thr pellizcoon every corner of the US, by getting your friends addicted, and other real ingenuous ways like the 24/7 plan or the 50/50, all mainly tolerated by the poolice until they find out where the Money stash at, then it becomes a federal operation of GET THE MONEY, AND GET IT GOOD.

    2. That happens due to a reality, everything you see in news related to drug war its pure fiction, im not talking about the violence, and brutal killings, but the lies that have been told us for years about governement forces fighting crime, politics of every levels are involved, as well as many law enforcement and ,the richest people who controls finance and money around the world.

  16. No one will can conquer nuevo laredo and or reynosa or matamoros,.. The terrain will not let you hide.... Like the sierra in sinaloa , michoacan, and or guerrero.... The locals pushers dealers consumers will not be told by an invader or sinaloense where to sell how and when or to whom.... And no please dont even think that if that where to happen that in a remote chance we could have CDG and Zetas working together again.....NO NO NO,... So sinaloa and CJNG stay on your side of the country and stay out of tamaulipas..... For the goodness of all mankind..... Enough with the wars let the people live and strive for a better mexico....

    1. WTF? One thing I am.going to let you know CJNG does push there drugs on Golfos plazas. But they pay "piso" the CJNG works with CDG on Monterrey they have stash houses in Monterrey, and they push there drugs through Reynosa, Miguel Aleman and Matamoros guess where all that Cristal meth sometimes confiscated in Monterrey and Tamaulipas comes from? Well it comes from Michoacan and Jalisco.I guarantee you once CJNG along with CAF takes over Tijuana against the CDS they are going to go against the Nuevo Laredo plaza with help of the CDG.

    2. I agree. Sinaloa doesn't even want those towns anymore. Let those fellas operate and if they want work then let's talk but let them handle their own shit and we'll handle ours. I believe the mex govt is fueling a lot of these cartel vs cartel wars. There is enough work and money for everyone just no loyalty or work ethic.
