ATF and PGR dismantles clandestine AR-15 manufacturing shops

Chivis Martinez for Borderland Beat

Attorney General of Jalisco, Luis Carlos Nájera Gutiérrez de Velasco, announced that an operation with cooperating agencies from both sides of the border, has dismantled clandestine weapon manufacturing workshops.

The ATF agency along with Mexico’s PGR agency dismantled two shops, both in Jalisco, one in Guadalajara, that was producing AR-15 rifles.  The factories were part of an network that sold its product to organized crime groups.  This is the first of its kind to be discovered in Mexico.

The shops manufactured the weapons for organized crime groups in Michoacán and the local cartel, Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG). It is estimated the shops were only operating for a few months. The material was imported from the United States.

The machinery is highly sophisticated and used software for precision manufacturing.

  5. Can we now stop blaming US guns for Mexicans slaughtering Mexicans?

Most MX narco weapons come from gun dealers around the world, but the MX nationalists (racists) continue to deny it, preferring to blame their Gringo papis.

And now, Mexico has finally found a productive business. Making weapons for their own narcos. I applaud the enterprising spirit!

Hecho en Mexico, cabrones. (they're probably really sucky guns, though)

    4. Lol...so guns are smuggled into the U.S. from other countries only to be smuggled into Mexico what a moron you are. obviously your just trying to deflect the facts about our country's involvement in supplying guns to Mexico. as long as my country has a massive appetite for drugs...cartels will exist.

    7. 9:42 & 10:17, World of Warcraft much? LOL. In the real world, real men dont get petty about the differeces between these weapons. The debate has been too played out for decades. On current battlefields there is not a great advantage for either weapon. The M-16 does not have reliabilty probs. AK can function better if slathered in mud due to it's loose tolerances. Solution: maintain your precision built M-16 without dunking it in mud. Ammo is 1/2 the weight for same number of rounds. Greater accuracy for same length barrel. Less noise and recoil for better target aquisition, higher projectile velocity. The A.K. would be much easier to produce due to stamped parts vs.cast alloy and machinimg. Hmm?

    8. Do not blame Mexico problems on the u.s. and the u.s. dont blame mexico for our drug consuming. And to the idiot that said that ar's dont have shit on th ak. The best hitmen wich are military trained all use ar. By design the ar is way more accurate thats why in shootouts between military and hitmen the military almost always kill more hitmen.do your research.

    9. You are right Oct 8, 2014 5pm. Plus the iron sights on a AK completely suck compared to the AR/M4. At least with the AR you can change the rear sight setting for long range or short range shots.

  7. ... The AK-47's That Are All Over Mexico Do Not Come From The United States... They Come From China On Large Container Ships Along With Knock Off Products = Fake Goods And Precurser Chemicals... As For The ATF In Mexico, They Probably Allowed These Places To Be Set Up To Track Who The AR's Were For... Fast And Furious 2... Here We Go Again......

  13. you guys should check out that hbo vice episode about ghetto gun makers in provincial islands in the philippines. they basically talking about the same thing here. its very easy to set up and you dont need hulking industrial equipments. that video is floating all over youtube im pretty sure. it was crazy how easy it was to make guns. and those were muslim extremists with very limited technical know how and money.

surprised mexico took this long to catch on to that kind of style production. pretty sure this wont be the last of it but its just the beginning considering the money and power cartels wield in mexico.

  15. American weapons manufacturers used to knock off chinese and russian weapons and sell them to mexican narcs, high prices, oldused weapons from iraq wars have been sold to mexican cartels too by second hand dealers with "contacts"...
--And to save the ailing US weapons manufacturers, they have arranged to offshore weapons production to china, the mexicans just assemble them, but meth money goes to the pockets of US weapons merchants, what is the problemo?

Dude how dare you tell the truth, and no,this will not stop nothing because there is a grimier aspect to the the jingoism and nationalism, and you called it.The point is cartels are now making their own weapons to use, which is bad news for everyone...

--weapons manufacturers facilitate drug movement, in exchange of the weapons buyers' buying a few millions of dollars, in cahoots with nra, with whom they do split some of the money, drug money...
