Self-Defense Movement in Michoacán Takes Four More Municipalities

Although the federal and state governments warned that they wouldn’t allow the self-defense groups to expand, on Tuesday November 26 the community guards took over four other municipalities, which now totals 54 communities under its influence in the state of Michoacán.

Shortly after noon and simultaneously, the community police of Tancítaro, Buena Vista, Aguililla, Tepalcatepec and La Ruana liberated the municipalities of El Zapote, El Corrijo and Rancho Grande, where 18 villages coexist with about 500 inhabitants, just like Acahuato, in the municipality of Apatzingán.

In the village of Rancho Grande, about 100 people who were taking refuge came out after the self-defense groups shouted at them: “We’re friends, we aren’t going to do anything to you, we came to fight the bad guys.”

They then barricaded the entrance of each of the towns that were liberated and left gaurds, reinforced with armed neighbors with scythes, hoes and machetes.

Minutes later, federal troops arrived to reinforce the area.

A commander identified by the name “Tilín” said via telephone that the struggle is in all of Michoacán.  “We are going after the 113 municipalities of the state, whether Fausto Vallejo likes it or not, the cleansing is against all types of crime.”

“We don’t want to kill them, only for them to leave the people alone and to get out from Michoacán” he said.

From Policía Comunitaria Tepalcatepec’s Facebook page at 6:07pm CST :

“Attention to everyone in general: we are notifying you that we are in Acahuato, a municipality of Apatzingan.  We arrived unharmed without any clashes, the people of Acahuato are already making their trenches, the only thing that’s missing is for you to join the movement, don’t expect others to do it for you, help make a barricade, bring coffee, if you have anything to defend yourself with bring it out.  We are across the boundary from Acahuato connecting to Tancitaro; we are also notifying you that 90% of the municipality of Tancitaro is already up in arms.”

“State police templarios arrived trying to disarm some in the community.  The people of Tancítaro responded by expelling them with sticks and rocks.  Enraged by such attacks, the people are organizing to expel all of the state police from the municipality.”

  1. very interesting. some greater showdown between the autodefensas and the Mexican Government must eventually come. But how it is handled - that will be a key issue. up until this time you BB reporters have been covering this issue with a certain amount of detachment. soon, you will have to make a choice about whether to cover these stories more directly from the ground. good journalism always starts at "ground zero".

  2. Why does the US bother arming Syrians civilians half way across the world. When providing arms to the trully brave comunitarios would rid Mexico of these dirtbags. When down south our people are living through a horrific episode. I assure you with the valor and determination of our Aztec roots. We will overcome these scumbags. Viva Mexico! Viva la Revulucion!

  5. Honestly this isn't the way to do the right way. So the cartel are call bad people ? And this are good people ? In my eyes they aren't any different . Lets hope this new group don't go to the same path the ct went . When a group gets to big it has it's own ppl thinking differently . My opinion I hope this autodefensa group be stop before it gets out of hand .

    3. 9:46 so,Jose, you are proposing that because, maybe, perhaps, the devil and the church hierarchy might or might not be behind the CP,the people should submit to the CT and the crooks that extort kidnap and murder them? Michoacano you are wrong and retarded, nobody can be that stupid.
      The material at hand is:
-get rid of the cabelleras kagadas and their leadership and the dirty politicians that enable their dirty deeds.
      -elect a clean government.
-enact all necessary laws and administrative mechanisms that will not allow for even one inch of corruption.
-prosecute all the crimes of the gangs, narcos, extortionists, murderers, etc etc.
-Hire clean police officers, that can pass the confidence examinations, including their supervisors...
I fully expect that another cartel will have a hard time fucking around with the people of michoacan,10% of whom may be dirty,1% of whom may be at the top of the criminal organizations and need to get a shotgun blast to the ass,and then get hanged from their balls,as soon as possible!

Ja ja ja ja ja and ja!
The best thing at the present time for us is to try and clean up the web from dirty rags like you, just a little truth here and there, not a lot of work.so, sorry easy pickins, can't please you this year...

  8. I smell something fishy down yonder. What Will happen once they take over.?How will they make money.?If all they do is stand guard and not work at anything else. Also what is the point of paying taxes if the cops wont be around.?Who will take that money.?

    1. They'll be making money like they've been doing their entire lives. Working hard. The government will still take the tax money. They'll come up with a reason, that greedy MX government

    2. Money wasn't the hey issue here or what I'm trying to say, that money maybe the last thing this people are fighting for... idk if you been keeping up with this story like the rest if this people on Bb have, but the issues the people had with the ct, was that ct started rapping their waves and daughters, kidnapping, extortion and killings of innocent people... that's what this people are fighting the ct.. so is not all about money... like the one guy who is selling his house and everything he owns, because ct killed his son... is more then just money my brother... VIVA MEXICo ey VIVA LA REVOLUTION...

I hope this time around the rabble doesn't win the war to lose the revolution at the desks for a lack of administrative skills.
The CP have a compromise with themselves and they will be really stupid to give away what they have earned with their own blood sweat and tears.
Their martyrs have paid for their liberation,I hope the people of michoacan appreciate the gift and remember who stood by their side, especially those that paid with their lives.
May the CP be able to pick up their comrades fallen standard and carry it on to lasting victory!!!

  17. @10:33pm you're a high level dumbass. The people drove the police away because they're no help and tried to disarm the innocent people. Re read the article if it's not too much for you. Also if the MX army killed these people the government would be in serious problems with the UN.

  19. "Honestly this isn't the way to do the right way. So the cartel are call bad people ? And this are good people ? In my eyes they aren't any different"

Honestly? Have you actually watched any of their videos at all? Cartels like the Templarios take innocent 19-year old girls and hang then from bridges. Before that they torture them badly. The autodefensas are not doing any of the stuff - at least they are not doing it now. They may be angry with the cartels ... but can you blame them? What if those girls were your neighbors, or your daughters??? So how can you possibly say that these two sides are equivalent?

The great challenge now in Michoacan is that as more of these autodefensas rise up - the Mexican Government will be feel threatened. This movement could become the "Arab Spring" of Mexico. It is unclear how the government will handle it, but it could go badly. we will see. the world media are now watching. special thanks to all the reporters at BB or being on top of this issue and following it from the very beginning. YOU guys are true journalists!!!

  20. The Mx Govt does not like these guys, a real threat. Govt loves cartels beacuse they pay off the crooked govt people. Pena is going to have to kill a lot of people, these guys are not giving up easy. This movement is really growing, finally the Mx. people have had enough.

  24. CT have no one to blame but themselves. They didnt just traffic drugs they kidnapped, extorted, and taxed people. The people got fed up and rose up. Taking a couple of towns, growing in numbers and are starting to become aware of there own power. La puta has to be concerned, and I bet other narcos are starting to watch

    ReplyDelete
  25. 10:33 are you really that stupid?
The naco-politicians and the naco-police, allied with the criminals, have been the ones committing all kinds of crimes against the Mexican people in general, and in this case against the people of michoacan.
they get kicked out because they are no good, dumbass, your comment is so stupid,I wonder why you don't get electrocuted by you computer.maybe because the lord loves his animals,he must be giving you a chance to repent, use it bastard!

  26. CT are too unsophisticated and lazy to earn a decent honest living or create a legitimate business so they leach off those that are productive like a pest lliving off the society host. Extorting people like fruit pickers and farmers doesn't get more lower. Get a life ;you and your kind will pay either in this life or the after.

  27. I too smell some CT grunts in our midst.

Anyway, self defense groups like these are what will save mexico, not the govt, which does nothing. This is how all great revolutions start. Im glad to feel a part of it - if only a spectator from the rafters.

  28. Aztec and purepechas also known as tarascos are the roots of michoacan. When are other states going to raise arms? So they kick out the templarios from michoacan the ct have other states where they can go. Are the outodefensas going to chase them into guanajuato, colima, snd other states where there deep. Also when is sinaloa and going to start there own outo defensa? I think never .there indenial obout sicarios killing inocent people and taking advantage of their people.
