Three Reported Killed in Ambush of Jesús Carrasco

Borderland Beat

It was reported that at least three sicarios were killed as a result of the confrontation that occurred this morning on the highway Mexico 15 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. The sicarios were killed in the Coloradito fishing camp, near El Huitusi, Guasave.

The criminals attempted to flee aboard a boat when they were confronted by police.

It was established that police commander Jesus Carrasco was the main target of the attack.

The police commander reported that there were at least 100 sicarios that participated in the assault while heavily armed.

It was reported that one of the armored truck used in the attack fled southbound on highway Mexico 15 while other vehicles fled in different directions; some went towards the town of Batamote, others went in the direction of town Ruiz Cortines and yet another fled toward the direction of Huitusi.

Carrasco said that he and his bodyguards were traveling in an armored white Dodge Ram style Pick truck that resulted totally burned from impacts from explosives. An unexplode grenade was found underneath the vehicle

At least one Ahome police officer was killed at the scene and another resulted wounded. The police officer that lost his life was identified as Julian Dima Soto from Olas Altas and had joined the department in 1999.

The incident occurred around 0715 hours on Highway Mexico 15 close to the town Adolfo Ruiz Cortines when the commander was heading from Los Mochis, Culiacan for a meeting.

According to Carrasco Pérez about a hundred gunmen attacked using at least three armored trucks and conventional vehicles.

Carrasco explained that the attackers used grenades and long rifles that included a Barret. Two of the armored truck were using some of these high caliber weapon while mounted on tripods in the back of the beds. One of the trucks had markings from a beer company.

Police reported that a female was injured while sustaining gunshot wounds as the result of the confrontation.  Sources at the scene reported that there were at least three police units with damaged from the gunfire and explosives.

Carrasco had received threats through a Facebook account as reported in Borderland Beat under the name of "Mochomera Mochis", where the commander is accused of being involved in drug sales in the north zone.

In the facebook account, that was apparently removed today from the internet, they published a photograph which shows six young men who look to be alive and tied up, but their bodies were later found on Saturday April 20 inside a Cherokee near the vicinity of Los Mochis. This was reported with a lot of detail in the BB Forum.

When the police commander was interviewed by the media he accused the police of Guasave of collusion with organized crime because, he said, at the time of the attack he saw two patrol units that did not assists during the ambush, instead fled the scene.

  2. Mexico 15 Highway between Los Mochis and Culican is one of the most dangerous highways in because. All around in the ejidos the narcos control in large numbers with powerful weapons. It has over and over been the scenes of violent and deadly ambushes. The federal highway police is corrupt, and the gangs do what they want in plain daylight. The army and federal police show up after the incidents, and the narco gangs control the highway. Payoffs, narco gangs and corruption rule Sinaloa and all the ejidos.

  10. 100 armed sicarios and 3 armored vehicles? Is this an exaggeration, like a cop fish story? I am not sure even the Taliban could arrange that kind of ambush.

Bro,was this a sort of a challenge by Carrasco etc?Surely they knew this could happen, but didn't think anyone would try it?Carrasco says he actually saw police units who turned around? What do you think of Carrasco and the Mochomera Mochis FB allegations against him,is there truth in it do you think? They usually know what their talking about, but who knows?

    2. He was in an armored truck but if he wasn't he would be dead for sure. The report said the truck was badly burned and damaged from gunfire and explosives so the armor plating def. saved his ass. They also said there was an unexploded grenade under the truck so if that went off he would probably be dead or would have lead to his demise. TF TAMPA,FL

    6. Sicarios are expendable assets and can b found by the dozen... The grenade with the pin in it is not a surprise. Things dont always go so smoothly in a fire fight, im not a fan of cartels but be respectful in your speech. I only say or type comments that I would say in those men's faces.. I suggest you do the same. -

  20. stop and think. do any of those vehicles really look like they were attacked by 100 hitmen armed with grenades, high-power rifles and a Barret? there would be nothing left but bullet holes. something is very wrong with the story being told by Carrasco. even if it is 10% right - he should plan on going to church regularly. he's lucky to still be in this world.

  31. Gotta set this clear.
I am a reporter from the near region where this occured (Ahome-Guasave), and I know what exactly happened.
Frist, there were not 100 sicarios, but a pretty close amount... come on, you can't count em while you're under fire, that's just a calculation.
Second, yes, criminals and drug cartels in México have armomer vehicules and heavy weapons like AK-47, barret 50, granade launcher and even a bazooka were fired in that confrontation.
    What happened?
Carrasco was traveling from Ahome to Culiacan.
When he was ambushed in the Mexico 15 he quickly realized that he was being the main target.
Some of the sicarios, the main attackers, were on a trailer disguised with a beer company fake stamps.
As fast as he could, Carrasco ran away from his truck. Just a few seconds before a rocket launcher was shot directly to his vehicle, which actually exploted.
Carrasco ran to another vehicule the goberment gave him a while ago: a fully armored military vehicle called "Tiger" (you can google: vehicle tiger Ahome and you'll see the picture of it... and yes, we have that kind of madafakar stuff beetches).
Inside there, Carrasco was safe and started to ask for reinforcements and it was then when he saw the Guasave polices patrols turn around instead of helping. The sicarios didn't know that Carrasco was alive, they thought he was dead.
How ever, the attackers killed one of Carrasco's men and severly wounded another one who's in the hospital.
After the sicarios started to flee, the police reorganizated and started a hunt which ended up by killing three of the sicarios in El Coloradito when they were trying to scape in boats since that community is a fishing camp.
Carrasco, really pissed, accused Guasave Police Aparment of being colluded with criminals cause that municipality has been the place of the last violent issues.
Right now, the State Goberment is investigating the Police of Guasave.
Today (05/11) some police agents were deteined and are under investigation cause autorithies believe there was a leak of information.
Carrasco is already a hero, opposite to what the sicarios pretended. They failed, and they screwed it all up, cause now the full rage and power of Carrasco and the goverment will destroy the criminals.

  32. To the reporter from Northern Sinaloa: Thank you for clarifying the story and good luck.

Now they're calling Carrasco, CarRambo, or Chuy Norris.
