The price of a kilo of cocaine in Montreal has practically doubled since the recent high profile arrests of Canadian drug trafficker Ryan Wedding and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

A kilo of cocaine currently sells for $35,000 CAD for traffickers who supply the drug market in the Metropolis and elsewhere in Quebec, compared to $18,500 CAD just two months ago, according to sources interviewed by Le Journal de Montreal's investigative team.

In May 2024, the price of a kilo of cocaine in Canada had then fallen to a record low of $18,500 CAD. And that was reportedly the price still being sold in December 2025.

Earlier this month, approximately twenty locations across Quebec and New Brunswick were targeted for searches conducted by the National Organized Crime Enforcement Squad (ENRCO).

The 28-year-old, who had been on the run for over a year, is believed to be the leader of the Blood Family Mafia (BFM).

The notorious street gang is involved in brutal turf wars with the Hells Angels in Quebec during which victims have been tortured and have had their limbs amputated.

In a news release issued Friday in response to CBC News inquiries, Rome District Police announced they arrested the head of "a notorious criminal organization." Turmel was not named in the release, but in a call with CBC News, police confirmed the individual arrested was indeed Turmel.

Australia’s most wanted man, senior Hells Angel Angelo Pandeli, has reportedly been detained in Dubai. The drug kingpin was nabbed this past week, but it remains unclear whether he will be charged, according to Daily Mail Australia.

The 52-year-old is considered to be one of Australia’s biggest cocaine and methamphetamine importers and was recently identified as an ally of the Kinahan cartel. Pandeli left Australia in 2018 and is one of a number of criminals who have chosen to settle down in the UAE. Pandeli is also credited with bringing leaders of different gangs together for drug dealings using Dubai as their base. This comes just before he was expected to travel to Mexico for a major Hells Angels meeting.

Pandeli was due to travel to Cancun, Mexico for a major Hells Angels meeting set up by Canadian Hells Angels figure Marty Robert. He was due to meet with senior members of the biker group based internationally, which is expected to attract leaders from other motorcycle gangs interested in working with Hells Angels and to discuss drug importations into Australia.

Just before noon, reports of gunshots rang out at a shopping mall near the port of Cancun. According to the FGR, a foreign national was reported dead after being shot inside a gym at the Marina Puerto Cancún Plaza.

The 37-year-old man on the gym floor, shot while working out on a leg press, was identified as Samy Tamouro, known in Canada as "Blue." But Samy is not a normal run-of-the-mill tourist. Last year, he fled Canada for the tropical Mexican tourist destination after a close friend of his, a convicted hitman responsible for at least 4 murders became an informant, cooperating with Canadian authorities.

Samy himself had a string of drug trafficking-related convictions and was tied to the infamous Quebec Hells Angels as a member of the Dark Soul's, a puppet or support club. He was a high-level drug trafficker in the now defunct Biker-Mafia-Gang alliance known as the Syndicate, headed by the late trafficker Gregory Woolley, gunned down last month outside of Montreal.
