MAY 26, 2025

Between May 23 and 24, the bodies were located in a house; five have already been identified.

This discovery corresponds to the bodies of 11 men, two women, and four corpses whose sexes are yet to be determined. In an official report, the FGE emphasized that 16 of the discoveries were made on May 23 during the search that began in the early hours of that day.

They used specialized equipment, including Geo Radar and K9 Binomio, with which they identified the bodies. However, the work did not end there, because the next day they began another search and found the last body, which was already in a state of partial skeletonization.

It should be noted that this operation began very early, causing alarm among community residents, who only reported seeing several State Attorney General's Office units surrounding the area near this property and prosecutors entering and exiting with various tools.

The Guanajuato State Attorney General's Office stated that this discovery was not a coincidence, as it was based on a thorough investigation into cases of disappearances committed by private individuals.

In addition to the human remains found at this site, several tools believed to have been used to take the victims' lives were also seized. These included four knives, five machetes, two pickaxes, four shovels, as well as various items of clothing and footwear that also aided the investigation and identification of the victims.

The Guanajuato State Attorney General's Office has a specialized analysis center that also has technology for the prompt identification of victims found in situations like this. Two days after the discovery and seizure of the property, five people have already been identified and are in the process of being returned to their families for a proper burial.

The justice institution reiterated that the investigation is continuing to clarify this incident and return all missing persons to their families.

Early Tuesday morning, members of the Army and the Special Reaction and Intervention Force of the National Guard (FERI) arrested Pedro “N”, alias “Don Pedro”, who was the head of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato.

The uniformed officers seized weapons for the exclusive use of the army, magazines and cartridges.

According to the investigations, the most relevant criminal activities carried out by “Don Pedro” were: theft and sale of hydrocarbons illegally extracted from Pemex pipelines (Huachicol), which is the main livelihood of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, which supplies the organization with high caliber weapons and tactical equipment.

Also, monthly extortions to government authorities forced to divert public resources, payment of quotas to authorities in collaboration with the Santa Rosa Cartel, which allow them to work freely.

The arrested man was subordinate of Karem Lizbeth Yépez Ortiz, alias “La Señora”, sister of José Antonio “N” alias “El Marro”, founder of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, who was arrested in August 2020.

After the arrest of her brother “La señora” was left as his successor and leader of this criminal organization.

The Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel maintains an alliance with the Cartel del Pacífico in order to confront the CJNG, with whom it is fighting for control of Guanajuato, generating a high homicide rate in the state.

According to official sources, these actions are part of the strategy implemented by the Security Cabinet of President Claudia Sheinbaum, to be executed in the first 100 days of her government, with the purpose of reducing violence rates and generating an environment of peace.

CSRDL Leader José Antonio Yépez Ortiz 'El Marro' Celebrated With Fireworks In San Antonio De Morales, Guanajuato

CARTEL SANTA ROSA DE LIMA

Footage circulated through social media on June 15th showing a firework structure or ‘Castillo’ in honor of José Antonio Yépez Ortiz ‘El Marro,’ founder and former leader of the ‘Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel’ (CSRDL),  during an unknown celebration near the Church of San Antonio de Morales, Guanajuato.

The structure is ignited to show off the criminal organizations iconic hammer in referance to the leader and his name blazing above a figure of Ortiz within a triangle, a message in support of Ortiz and the criminal group within Guanajuato is also overlayed in the video, a translation is as follows:   “We remain firm with the man, pure Marro, pure CSRDL, pure Guanajuato”

A similar homage was seen for Jose Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga ‘El Fresa,’ a principal leader of ‘La Familia Michoacana,’ during a video that circulated through social media around September 4th, 2022 in an undisclosed region allegedly celebrating the leader’s birthday. The structure is seen partially ignited with the leader’s iconic strawberry alongside a crown and the following message:   “We love you

Happy Birthday”

The blatant public celebrations not only acts as another example of the criminal organizations ability to publicize themselves as part of a larger propaganda campaign aimed at “winning the hearts and minds” of local residents in regions for an assortment of benefits, but another instance that portrays their ability to act with blatant impunity within certain regions deemed as bastions for organized crime.
