Cristian Fernando “G,” also known as El Guacho, son-in-law of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

At the time of his arrest in November 2024, El Guacho was living in California under a false identity after faking his death. He is described as a "high-ranking leader of a Mexican cartel" and was charged with "international drug trafficking and money laundering."

Cristian Fernando was wanted by Mexican authorities on suspicion of kidnapping two members of the Mexican Navy in 2021 to secure the release of El Mencho's wife, who had been arrested by Mexican authorities, according to an affidavit from a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent.

Federal Judge Beryl Howell, in Washington, D.C., sentenced Gutiérrez Ochoa to 11 years and eight months in federal prison.

Last June, El Guacho pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to one count of conspiracy to conduct financial transactions involving proceeds of unlawful activity, or money laundering.

Rosalinda González Valencia, accused of money laundering, will not be released from prison immediately

JANUARY 30, 2025

MEXICO CITY (apro).- A federal judge granted early release to Rosalinda González Valencia, wife of Nemesio Oseguera González “El Mencho,” leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), however, she will not be released from prison immediately.

In a hearing held yesterday by Judge Perla Fabiola Ayala Estrada, assigned to the Federal Criminal Justice Center based in Cuernavaca, Morelos, González Valencia's defense argued that her client had already served more than half of her sentence and that, in addition to having shown good conduct, she could obtain the benefit of early release.

Rosalinda González Valencia was sentenced in 2023 to five years in prison for money laundering, but has remained in prison since November 2021.

Federal sources confirmed that Judge Ayala established that the release order in favor of the wife of “El Mencho” will take effect until it becomes final, that is, until it can no longer be revoked by a higher court.

For this reason, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) is already preparing the presentation of an appeal that must be resolved by a Collegiate Court.

Rosalinda González Valencia, the wife of Nemesio Oseguera, known as El Mencho, the leader of the Jalisco Cartel - New Generation (CJNG), must remain in custody at Cefereso 16 in Morelos, a federal judge confirmed.

At the hearing to review the measure, the judge declared his request unfounded, and he will have to remain in prison, reported Proceso.

González Valencia was sentenced in December 2023 to five years in prison for her alleged responsibility in organized crime, with the purpose of committing crimes against health and operations with resources of illicit origin (money laundering).

But in April 2024, a control judge in a hearing held at the Federal Criminal Justice Center, with residence in Xochitepec, Morelos, determined that the Attorney General's Office (FGR), did not present sufficient evidence in criminal case 254/2023 to prosecute González Valencia, for such crimes.
