By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat

Five corpses were found next to the Xochimilco-Oaxtepec federal highway, by the Los Nogales area, municipality of Tlalnepantla, on the border with the State of Mexico.
According to police sources, the bodies were found after a Thursday morning 911 call.

The Organized Crime Situation in Morelos

Violence in Morelos escalated rapidly over the last ten years after the collapse of the Beltrán Leyva Organization, the last single criminal group to control the state. Since the BLO's loss of power, numerous criminal factions emerged to fight each other for control of the state. According to Fernando Blumenkron Escobar, head of the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), in Morelos there are two criminal groups with national reach (likely referring to the CJNG and Sinaloa Cartel), four regional organizations, and various local cells.

Security researcher Víctor Sánchez created the following maps explaining criminal group presence.

At a September 2026 security roundtable, Morelos state governor explained the decrease is attributable to a government security operations. According to Milenio, from July to September 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, search warrants increased by 52.94%, while arrest warrants registered a 16.39% increase.
