During the early hours of this Sunday, a group of armed men murdered 10 people, including an entire family, in the community of Texcalapa de Juárez in the municipality of Tehuitzingo, Morelos state. The event may have been related to a family dispute.
Locals reported being woken up by a spray of gunfire early on Sunday morning. According to initial reports, at least six of the victims belonged to the Torres Aguilar family, while four other men were identified as workers at the ranch where the events occurred, known as “Marihuana.” Among those killed were six males, including two minors aged 14 and 10, three females, and a one-month-old baby girl.
Witnesses reported that the armed men fled the scene in several vehicles, but were unable to recall the models or colors of getaway vehicles.
On Monday, police reported that their primary suspect was a family member, a former drug addict named José Alfredo T, who was released from drug rehab for his addiction to methamphetamine, cocaine, and alcohol on April 20. Journalists found a video he posted online where he blamed his addiction on his family.
