US Charges Sinaloa Governor Ruben Rocha Moya and Other Mexican Politicians for Drug Trafficking

"Socalj" for Borderland Beat

The United States Department of Justice indicted the Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya , as well as nine other Mexican officials, on drug and weapons-related crimes linked to the Sinaloa Cartel .

Among those accused are current and former high-ranking officials from both the government and law enforcement agencies of the state of Sinaloa, who are accused of associating with the Sinaloa Cartel to distribute large quantities of drugs to the United States.

It was the US ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson , who announced that the charges were filed this Wednesday by the Federal Prosecutor's Office for the Southern District of New York, stating that "it is what our citizens on both sides of the border want and, as I have pointed out repeatedly, it is what they deserve ."

Officials are accused of participating in the violence and reprisals, including the murder of cartel enemies.

The governor of Sinaloa has also been linked to the handover of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada.

The indictment against the officials includes their probable involvement in a corrupt and violent drug trafficking conspiracy with the cartel to import fentanyl , heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine from Mexico into the United States.

Furthermore, they are accused of protecting the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, currently in dispute after the surrender of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada in July 2024, to prevent them from being investigated, arrested or prosecuted.

The United States also accuses them of providing confidential information from Mexican law enforcement and the Army to members of the criminal organization, as well as to their allies.

“They ordered members of state and local law enforcement agencies, such as the Sinaloa State Police, the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office Investigation Police, and the Culiacán Municipal Police, to protect drug shipments stored in Mexico and in transit to the United States,” the indictment details.

These officials also allegedly allowed cartel members to commit acts of violence with impunity. In exchange for their likely cooperation, they allegedly received thousands of dollars.

The United States Department of Justice directly linked them to the Los Chapitos faction, led by Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán , sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera.

    1. The problem with Mexico….is that it’s full of Mexicans!

As long as that country is populated with Mexicans, they’re a lost cause.

    2. Looks like a case of response to what Claudia did. Her temper tantrum over the two CIA agents that died coming back from the super lab raids in Chihuahua has played her parties hand. By not coordinating with national leaders, so they could block any raids or at least give the cartels a better heads up, the US embarrassed her and caused questions concerning her leadership and ability to keep the gravy train flowing

    2. Most Mexicans defend other Mexicans no matter their crime.

Only Mexicans are allowed to hold other Mexicans accountable for their actions, so very few are actually called to account since they’re all cut from the same depraved putrid cloth.

  8. This is great news. It was a long time happening but better late than never. We need to go after these money hungry scumbags too. The reason why cartel members get so powerful and do whatever they want is because of these dirty politicians protecting them and looking the other way. I now want to see charges for all of the dirty politicians in Jalisco protecting CJNG. I want to see if Ruben Rocha Moya is going to get a prison cell next to his old buddy and friend Mayo in the U.S. I would love to hear what they say to each other. Nuff Said!!!

Mexico does not have any guilt of the CIA agents got drunk and could not manage the chihuahuas' highways, and the israili and tejas' Centinela Tower failed to warn them of the dangerous curves ahead.

  18. This is Nini talking because it’s filed in Southern District Manhattan and specifies the October 2023 killing of a confidential source, that Nini directed that southern district included in their superseding indictment.

If it was Mayo talking it would come from Eastern District of NYC, or maybe they collated but this is specific to the Ivan faction

They just kicked his legs out between Mencho, Jardiniero and now this
