Four Police Officers Killed in Ambush in Escuinapa, Sinaloa

By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat

Four police officers were killed in an ambush on a rural highway in Escuinapa, Sinaloa yesterday morning, marking the third time Escuinapa police forces have been attacked in 2026

The armed attack occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, when the agents were patrolling on the Mazatlán-Tepic highway, near Tecualilla de Escuinapa. Four officers, including the regional subcommander, were killed at the scene, with another police officer being severely injured and taken to a hospital.

This is the third time Escuinapa police forces have been attacked in 2026, reported Noreste. In early February, armed men threw explosive devices at the Municipal Police station, injuring two people.  On January 9 of this year, State Preventive Police officers traveling on the Mazatlán-Tepic highway were attacked with a drone dropped IED.

Yesterday's massacre means with 9 dead, Sinaloa now ranks 3rd nationally for slain police officers in 2026, after Jalisco (29), and Morelos (10).
