Attack at Plaza Arkana: victims may be related to Rafael Caro Quintero
According to reports, the two people killed in the attack at Plaza Arkana have been identified and are believed to be relatives of Rafael Caro Quintero:
Emilio Quintero, 31, from Culiacán
Juan Pablo Quintero, 21, from Guadalajara
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico has reportedly opened an investigation to confirm their relationship to Rafael Caro Quintero, founder of the Guadalajara Cartel.
A possible motive is a settling of scores, although it hasn’t been confirmed whether they were involved with any organized crime group.
The name of the man who was with the victims at Plaza Arkana hasn’t been released. However, he is believed to be 23 years old and also from Culiacán, Sinaloa.
What is known about Rafael Caro Quintero's relatives? He was not the only one involved in drug trafficking.
Most of Rafael Caro Quintero's relatives are in Sinaloa and Jalisco, which points to the possibility that the victims of Plaza Arkana are related to the 'Narco of Narcos'.
Furthermore, Rafael Caro Quintero isn’t the only one involved in drug trafficking, as several of his brothers have also been identified by the US DEA as members of organised crime.
Similarly, one of Rafael Caro Quintero's uncles, Juan José Quintero Payán, "Don Juanjo," the second-in-command of the Juárez Cartel, was arrested in Guadalajara in 1992.
Meanwhile, Emilio Quintero Payán, also an uncle of Rafael Caro Quintero, was the leader of the Guadalajara Cartel, killed in 1993.
Other relatives of Rafael Caro Quintero have also been arrested:
Rubén Payán Adame, nephew
Sajid Emilio Quintero Navidad, cousin
