National Guard and Mexican Army secure 11 high-powered firearms and vehicles in Sonora

Lomas de Sotelo, Mexico City, November 13, 2024 - The Ministry of National Defense informs that, as part of the National Security Strategy, on November 12 of this year, National Guard and Mexican Army personnel seized high-powered weapons and vehicles in Sonora.
As a result of actions to strengthen the rule of law in the country and detect illegal activities, while conducting ground reconnaissance in the San Vicente ejido, municipality of Saric, Sonora, they were attacked with gunfire by individuals who were traveling on board several vehicles, so in view of the real and imminent threat that put their lives at risk, the aggression was repelled in accordance with the provisions of the National Law on the Use of Force, causing the aggressors to flee.
At the scene of the incident, 11 high-powered firearms were seized,
25 improvised explosive devices, 57 magazines, 4,985 cartridges, diverse tactical equipment and five vehicles, two of which were armored and modified.
The seized items were handed over to the Federal Attorney General's Office in Caborca, Sonora, to continue with the corresponding ministerial investigations; these activities were carried out in strict compliance with the rule of law.
In this way, the National Guard and the Mexican Army reaffirm the unwavering decision of the Federal Government to inhibit the activities of organized crime, to ensure and safeguard the peace and security of the population.
They siezed stuff, but not a single fuken criminal was apprehended.
