Policeman Killed Near Central Nueva Had 12 Years Of Service; Left Three Children Orphaned In Tlaquepaque, Jalisco

The policeman Simón Márquez Sánchez, who was killed in the line of duty in a shooting that occurred in the vicinity of the Nueva Central Camionera, had 12 years of service in the Preventive Police Station of San Pedro Tlaquepaque; and left behind three young orphans.


He was born on April 2, 1983, in Guadalajara. His vocation for service began at the age of 17, joining the National Defense Secretariat, where he reached the rank of Corporal of Infantry.


On February 1, 2011, when he was 28 years old, the officer began his honorable career at the San Pedro Tlaquepaque Police Station, initially assigned to Operational Sector 2.



Throughout more than 12 years of distinguished service, Marquez Sanchez, demonstrated his exceptional ability in various roles, including sectors 3 and 4, as well as in the Cobras Tactical Group.


His operational experience and leadership led him to be appointed Shift Manager of Operational Sector 1 as of May 15, 2023, a position he performed with dignity and efficiency until December 31, 2023.


Márquez Sánchez stood out for his unwavering discipline and a deep spirit of service, dedicating his life to protect and serve the community of Tlaquepaque, according to what was released by the Tlaquepaque Police Station.


"His commitment to the safety and well-being of citizens will remain as an inspiring legacy. Police Officer Marquez leaves a priceless memory in the heart of his family: three children of 15, 16 and 17 years old and his beloved wife, who along with the entire community of Tlaquepaque, will remember him with great respect and affection," said the corporation.


Regarding the incident in which the officer died, the State Prosecutor's Office indicated that inside a shopping mall located on Las Torres Avenue at the intersection with Patria Avenue, in San Pedro Tlaquepaque, there was a person wounded apparently by a firearm projectile, 

The elements of the municipal police went to the site, and observed the aggressor entering a commercial establishment, so when they tried to catch him to stop him, he fired several shots with a firearm, injuring the uniformed Simón Márquez, when they repelled the aggression, they managed to wound him.


Municipal paramedics transferred the injured to an aid station, however, the policeman lost his life while receiving medical attention, as did the man who, according to the police station, worked as a private security guard.
