Salvatierra, Guanajuato: Festive Holiday Party Turns Deadly, 11 Dead And 12 Wounded

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

A posada (festive holiday party) in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, in a former hacienda, turned into a massacre, which left 11 people dead, 12 wounded and vehicles on fire.

The facts were confirmed by municipal authorities.

What was supposed to be a night of celebration turned into a real massacre in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, which left 11 people dead and 12 wounded in the former Hacienda San José del Carmen, as well as vehicles set on fire.

The events reportedly took place around 3:30 a.m., when an armed group burst into the place and started shooting, a situation that was confirmed by the authorities.

Among the attendees were young people between 17 and 30 years old, of whom 11 were massacred and 12 more were wounded by gunfire. A photo taken hours before the attack was shared on Facebook.

Through a statement, the City Hall informed that the people were taken to different hospitals in the municipality, without providing further details about their health condition.

This is the second violent attack, as hours before an armed group attacked a barbershop located in the surroundings of the María Tomasa Estévez Market.

  2. Pues que desgracia. La cosa es si algunos de esos chavos estaban involucrados con criminales o no. Quien sabe. Pero si son gente inocente que lastima.

  3. The worst part, imo, is the collusion of the municiple leaders. I get it, if they intervene they get assassinated. So fuck everyone? I agree with the previous comment, a civil was is needed. Don’t build a wall America, build more bridges for military crossings only so armored support can be sent. There will be blood, but at least with a means to an end rather than never-ending. This is an Emotional response; feel free to punch holes through the cognitive shortfalls.

    3. Drug demand is worldwide, not just a gringo or US Govt obsession. Not all international drug supply routes go through Mexico.

Smuggling has been around ever since governments started taxing stuff that people want. Normally its done quietly, privately.

What's different now is how publicly and openly blatant the viciousness and degradation of human life has become in Mexico at the hands of the cartels.

Suggestions of military invasion only mirror the seriousness of the situation.

    4. It’s going to eventually happen. Hate to say it. But it’s only a matter of time. Who wants an unstable neighbor ? Would you like to live next door to someone that always shoots at cars driving down the road and beats his wife and kids nightly ? Take pisses and let the dogs shit on your lawn and driveway ?

  5. This is sad . Looking at the photo they all took together, hours before they were massacred, makes me think “ is there a specific person/persons in the photo, who were the target, and everyone else just collateral damage? I know most of the time, that is what happens in situations like this . I know in the U.S , we always hear about everyone getting killed , except for the intended target . It’s always the innocent people , who had absolutely nothing to do with the situation, who lose their life . There was a time, in my youth , where I was on a vengeance filled path , trying to settle the score against some guys who had killed someone very close to me . I remember thinking “ why not just riddle the whole house with bullets, regardless of who is inside “. I’m very glad that I didn’t injure or kill someone , who had nothing to do with why I was so angry . In my anger I acted very cowardly, by shooting from the safety of a moving vehicle , instead of either just going in the house and shooting the person/persons I felt deserved it , point blank , execution style . As bad as all of it may sound , I do believe that if you make the decision to kill someone , you should either catch them all alone , or get close enough (a foot or two away) , so there’s no chance of missing and killing an innocent person. I do not believe in using violence to solve my problems anymore , I just wanted to give my opinion on what I think , as far as not hurting innocent people , who have done nothing wrong .
I know most of us like to think ..if we don’t live by the gun, we won’t die by it , so we act accordingly, so that way we are not having to live our lives in fear, constantly looking over our shoulder. I have a feeling that the majority of the people who were killed at that holiday party, probably lived there in the same way .

    1. Great, honest response, that shows that people are able to grow. About killing someone up close...Wow, the odds of getting shit on your jacket go up astronomically...Then, you become a target of the law, and others who might capture you or your loved ones for torture, beheading, dismemberment, or making pozole of. You know, like what happens in Mexico on a regular basis.
Violence begets violence is an ancient truism. Like Jesus said: "forgive your enemies."

  9. Will this story attract the Federal Government to do something, since since Municipal Police is curupt, along with State, the criminals are long gone , for when Obrador dispatches the Guardia Nacional. It's so late that it's embarrassing... that's why many towns people are not happy to see them after days have passed. Who wants to bet ,this one won't make it to his up coming daily conferences.

    1. The posada was being carried out by this group of people in the pic peacefully.
A group of about two to three uninvited men arrived and wanted to join in.
They were asked kindly to leave and they did briefly and returned with around ten more men with assault rifles.
They then began shooting at those in the party and one of the mother fuckers even started shouting to "kill them all".
Only fucken narcos have this access to guns whatever fucken group they belong to-who cares?
The point is they were narcos!
Fuck all narcos and everyone that defends them!!!
