"Char" for Borderland Beat
Unfortunately, the war between the powerful Gulf Cartel factions, Scorpions of Matamoros, and the Metros of Reynosa is at a standstill. Both sides have made incursions into each other's territory in plazas like San Fernando, Rio Bravo, Valle Hermoso, Soto La Marina, and Jimenez. The areas mentioned are where we have seen the most clashes since the war kicked off between both factions. It is important to note that the Metros of Reynosa, led by the brothers Cesar Morfin Morfin "Primito" and Alvaro Noe Morfin Morfin "R8," decided to get involved in support of the Zetas Vieja Escuela of San Fernando, led by Chuy 7, Pawa, and Pantera 24 of Soto La Marina. This after being attacked by Scorpions of Matamoros led by Jose Alberto Vilano "La Kena" "Jefe 19".
The below message was reported on October 16, 2023, on X by El Guzman @FuriaNegra77 in the municipality of Jimenez, Tamaulipas, on road 101 of Cd. Victoria-Matamoros above the village of La Fe Del Golfo Km. 114, two headless bodies of male subjects were found with a message directed to "El Flaco."
Sources close to the situation in Tamaulipas told me the following when I asked about a possible truce between Primito of Reynosa and La Kena of Matamoros,
"There will hardly be an agreement when a faction is led (La Kena or Jefe 19) by someone who was an operative (chief of assassins), they are used to fighting and winning, they don't talk, they just want to fight, the case of the Kena is like that, if Alfredo Cardenas "El Contador" was out there, there might agreements."

However, Grupo Escorpi贸n is not el Marro and the Matamoros faction has retained power over the decades. Even with heavy conflicts with adversaries such as Los Zetas, they have managed to stay alive. Maybe an alliance with the Sinaloans will help Grupo Escorpi贸n clear out SLP, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, and Tamaulipas from the south against their common enemy, CJNG.

Los Escorpiones were in different parts of Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Yucatan, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and I can't think of where else at the moment. Point is they were in more areas then the Metros. And last, if the metros moved more weight, and had more money and power, then why did they want to go hald hands with cjng? A strong group stands on it's own. They don't go looking for someone to prop them up. They don't allow for so many original members who have proven themselves over and over for the organization and have been part of it since before the war with the Zetas, and some since before the war with sinaloa, members who have proven their loyalty to the organization and who have contributed and been there in the bad times, they don't allow them to be killed. That's the part that gets me. Primito sold out to cjng and killed alot of good metros that had been metros and showed their loyalty and took care of business for it, people that were solid in that regard, and all these so called metros just let it happen and are still their taking his orders. ReplyDeleteIt is probably due to the radio call sign designation they have for the plazas they control. In this instance, San Fernando would be referred to as Sierra Fox. As BB has reported throughout the years, some of the individuals within the cartel have backgrounds in the police or military and will sometimes adopt some of the non civilian jargon terms when operating, just a guess
