A second judge sentenced César Tapia Quintero, considered to be one of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada's main logistical operators for the shipment of drugs from Mexico to the United States, to criminal proceedings for the crime of organized crime.

According to criminal case 244/2023, along with César Tapia Quintero, criminal proceedings were also opened against his two co-defendants Óscar René Medina Casas and Carmen Julissa Tapia Melchor, both charged with the crime of organized crime.
On August 15, it was announced that Lupe Tapia's brother was transferred to the federal prison known as "Altiplano", considered a maximum security prison due to his relevance within the Sinaloa or Pacific Cartel.
