Ciudad Obregón, Sonora: The Interrogation of Jesus Edwardo Garcia Cruz

"Sol Prendido" and "HEARST" for Borderland Beat

The cartel group La Plaza captured and interrogated a member of CDS Salazares in the city of Obregon, Sonora.

Video translation is as follows:

Captive: My name is Jesus Edwardo Garcia Cruz and I work for the Los Salazares cartel as a drug dealer.

On June 21 they asked me to take some pictures of some narco messages that were placed on the streets Obregón - 34 and Durango - 30.

Those narco messages mentioned that Commander Mendoza from the National Guard, Commander Camacho from the Municipal Police, and Municipal President Santos González Yescas worked for the Los Rusos organization. Which happens to be enemies of theirs. This is all a lie of course.

The message also claimed that the Municipal Police were responsible for the murder of a man. This was also false because it wasn’t them who abducted this individual. Those narco messages were recovered on the Juarez -31 streets where a young female was recently killed.

They were placed there by El Frijol, he works for El Nando and El 21. They belong to the Los Salazares. Everything that was published was a lie. Those guys had nothing to do with what was said there. It was part of a ploy because of the fear they have for Commander Camacho.

    1. I mean come on though...it's a last ditch effort for some mercy. We've all seen the atrocious torture videos....they're trying to save their asses from a cruel heinous death. It's self preservation

    2. They most likely get lied to and are told to cooperate for a quick death instead of a slow and horrible one.

    4. 10:30 you watch too many fuckin movies. When there war there's no time to compromise on who fights who for what.
These guys they capture many times blend in with the civilian population. What this means is that they are not always wearing battle gear and helmets and grenades and shit.
Once captured enemies only think about getting the most info out of them and go out to the next capture.
They die the same way the themselves lived.

    3. It doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe its just misinformation.

There is pretty strong evidence (see here: bit.ly/43oSm68) that in Obregon, Nando is also known as "Lobo".

And La Plaza men, who interrogated and dismembered a CDS hitmen, referred to themselves as Lobo's men in this video:

So, either Nando switched sides or its misinformation. What you all think?

  3. Haven’t been back to Sonora in 14yrs and it surprises me how they ( Salazares) have enemies on their own turf. Back when I living in Sonora you’ll only heard about Salazares , gente nueva , jaguares controlling everything….. I guess that changed

  10. I don’t truly understand how beneficial it is to show these interrogations… I mean, wouldn’t you want your enemies to NOT fucking know you have the drop on them??

    1. It's to heat people/places up. And I doubt the put the videos out that same day.. Also it makes the opps more cautious on what they do because now they have to switch things up because their program/rutine/modus operandi is known to their rivals and that would make them vulnerable and put them at a major disadvantage.

      Delete
    2. @237 — nice conclusions, but these recorded interrogations have been going on for nearly 15 years now, maybe more.

Your examples have likely evolved to new tactics, but I do think the primary reasoning has to still be demoralizing the local rival(s)…

    3. These cartel people aren't very bright.

      Delete
    4. They haven't got ''the drop'' on them though. They are exposing corrupt officials whose work for their enemies will be hindered by the information coming to light.
      And it works.

    5. @11.03. It is about their state protection. It is pretty clear from the video that it has nothing to do with demoralising local rivals, but keeping the protection they have who were running for cover. This video is meant to exonerate them and bring that protection creeping back out from the bushes they were hiding in.

  11. @Hearst That’s SLRC not Obregon

    1. That is correct. This is SLRC. And this guy posted a video saying he was forced by Guardia Nacional to say all this. He went into hiding afyer this.
