California Governor Calls Upon CHP & National Guard to Help with Fentynal Crisis in San Francisco

"Socalj" for Borderland Beat

The California Highway Patrol will assist in training and traffic enforcement while the California National Guard will help analyze drug trafficking operations with the aim of dismantling them, according to the statement.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced Friday that California’s Highway Patrol and the National Guard will bring in additional people and resources to help San Francisco battle its worsening fentanyl drug crisis. The announcement highlights a serious concern in the city where Newsom was once Mayor. Overdose deaths have soared by over 40% since this time of year in 2022, and authorities have been unable to stop rampant open-air drug dealing and use.

Newsom said in a statement that the partnership will “crack down on crime linked to the fentanyl crisis” and hold “poison peddlers accountable.” The operation will not result in criminalizing people addicted to drugs, the statement said.

The news was welcomed by San Francisco Mayor London Breed, the District Attorney’s office, and the Police Chief, who have all vowed to get tough on large-scale drug traffickers.

Newsom made a surprise visit this week to the city’s Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods, which are rife with drug use and dealing. Mayor Breed has repeatedly pledged to crack down on drug dealing in the Tenderloin, but conditions have not improved.

    1. Purdue started this mess, the DEA made it even worse by outlawing most pain pills, then the cartels stepped up and filled the gap left in the market with the crazy strong opioid fentanyl.

Now we have extremely strong meth with is causing pshycosis and extremely strong opioid causing dependence.. with them both combined we have homelessness and death.

  4. I'm not sure more repression, more weapons and more officers will help.

I mean after 30 years of WoD we have more cheaper and stronger drugs than ever.

Just don't see why more of the same failed policy suddenly will start working, but hey I am not a tax funded director with all the relevant information at my disposal.

  5. Fentanyl has been an issue in Calexico, Brawley, Hemet, Victorville, Joshua Tree, Desert Hot Springs, Indio, Victorville, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Stockton. But no, it's only an issue now that it's in Frisco. Fuck Newsom

    2. Lol true. That guy is a delusional globalist democrat. Just like the rest of them. Dirty little player.

      Delete
    3. 905 so you think free housing and needles is the solution? Because although there's some sarcasm behind my comment, it's actually true... as far as more prisons, that's actually not a bad idea, maybe followed by harsher sentences. Of course, harsher sentences is not even an option under Newsome, the guy enabled crime in San Francisco and proceeded to follow through with the whole state. Now he's asking for help for the shit show he created.

      Delete
    4. Yea right. There is s state in the US where all small amount of drugs are decrimilized. We already did harsh sentences and nothing happen.

      Delete
    5. 1043 you're retarded. Harsher sentences lowers crime and violence. You're out of touch like your mentor ALMO. Look at everything california is facing as a result of these liberal policies. Homelessness is rampant because public drug use laws and camping ordinances are not being enforced. Catalytic converter thefts are at an all time high in California because again, the laws against that crime are not strict enough. Thefts in general are up. You have bike thefts, car thefts, home invasions and follow home robberies, department store smash and grabs, the list is endless. There's also vehicle related crimes like street takeovers and there is a car chase in los angeles atleast once a day, sometimes you have up to 3. Why? Because officers are being advised to stand down, despite the gravity of the crime. But you wanna sit here and talk about more relaxed sentences and less jails is the answer? You must be a young.

    6. As is said often California is the 5th richest economy,no amount of Republican crying would change that.Meanwhile most federal money grifting states are Republican states, while also low in education and health care and more crimes per capita.Republicans are frauds.
Jail does not work like you think. The heroin, cocaine, crack epidemic happened and now fent,it keeps happening no matter the jail sentences.Besides the jails are full and you have to feed them. There is no 100% solution, not easy.Besides most users have jobs.

      Delete
    7. 11:08 If harsher sentences lowers crime then what’s your explanation for America in the 70s

      Delete
    8. 659. What happened in the 70's?

      Delete
    9. 10:39 Extremely harsh sentencing for drugs happened.. And the problem didn’t decrease, it increased.

      Delete
    10. 10:39 In New York in the late 70s, having 2 ounces or more of cocaine meant a mandatory life imprisonment with no chance of parole before 15 years and from what I remember, Nevada infamously used to hand down life sentences for certain marijuana sentences in those days.

      Delete
  7. In the 80s it was crack, but since it affected blacks it wasn't such an issue. Now it's fent and sure it's more deadly, but most importantly it's affectimg hoods not overcrowded with gun and liquor stores if ya get my drift.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Nope homie I don't get your drift.

      Delete
    2. 09:21 no. Statistics show that more blacks and browns are dying from the fentanyl crisis than whites. White Nazi prison gangs also enjoy smoking pills in the trailer park while shooting meth or vice versa.

Mira la Gente muy Culero en San Francisco.

Don't make this a race thing when it isn't. All communities are adversely affected by the way fentanyl is manufactured, wholesale distributors, retailed, and the consumed. And wow you have a pill that costs around $1 peso dollar which can then be sold in the USA for like 10 x more or 100 x more.... ($0.50 cent US to $5 US).

      Delete
    3. Ok but still no pharmacological/biological comparison to fentanyl so you’re not making a strong point really.

How much du you pay when you call an emergency ambulance, how much to give birth to a baby? Thats your root cause, and thats when people are literally forced to self medication. Of course purdue is at fault too but your crooked docs are also to blame. They should have known better. And its still mainly an american problem so it must have something to do with the american way.

    4. 4:05 Economic output and per capita wealth are very different things. The US has the highest GDP of over $23 trillion. Californias GDP alone is $3.7 trillion making it the 5th largest in the world, ahead of India.

Don't forget to thank the Mexican cartels, that get people to smuggle the illegal contraband to USA, also don't forget to Thank ALMO, for doing little to curb, drug flow to USA. I have to admit he is doing some Sinaloa fentanyl labs, but unfortunately rarely going for CJNG drug labs.

  14. They better leave SF’s cocaine dealers alone then. Focusing on all drugs just exaggerates the criminal proclivity towards fentanyl. Fentanyl needs to be “not worth it” from a criminal’s perspective for such activity to decrease.
