In 4 Years of AMLO's Government, 4 Thousand Women Have Been Murdered

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

"This government has not given more to women, it has taken away what they had and when they have raised their voices it has erected fences to prevent them from reaching them," said the former PAN presidential candidate.

Former PAN presidential candidate Ricardo Anaya Cortés, today criticized the absence of public policies for women, especially the incidence of femicides and the elimination of social programs with a gender perspective.

In his weekly video, the PAN candidate, self-exiled in the United States to litigate corruption accusations against him in Mexico, anticipated this week's commemoration of International Women's Day, to express that there are politicians who claim to support women and do nothing, alluding with images of support to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The PAN politician recalled the extinction of budgets for shelters for women victims of violence, the disappearance of funds for childcare centers, full-time schools, and the incidence of femicides:

"Just look at how feminicides are: 4 thousand women murdered in the four years of this government, for the mere fact of being women. It is an open wound in the heart of Mexico. This government has not given more to women. It has taken away what they had, and when they have raised their voices, it has erected fences to prevent them from reaching them," she said.

For this reason, he said, he wished that this year "the celebration be one of deeds, not words", specifically, with public ministries trained in gender perspective, and that the extinct programs return.

"Hopefully, the day after tomorrow, when women march to demand justice and demand that violence stops, they will be heard," she added.

On the other hand, the also former national leader of the PAN, accused that last week's video, in which he invited Mexicans living abroad to look for him to guide them on the remote voter registration, was withdrawn without specifying the reasons.

However, he thanked those who have sought him out since then through direct messages on the social network and called on them to continue doing so, as he said that there are some who do not want Mexican migrants to know that they can vote and participate.

    1. The internet influencer will say on ALMO watch, only 12 have died. Wonder if it's true someone said they get paid with Tortas and Horchanta, that sure don't pay the bills, and the time spent at the internet Cafe?

    2. LOL I'm a little offended at you calling me a "Chayotero". A chayotero receives money. I consider myself an AMLO supporter because to this day I have yet to receive 1 peso from AMLO's administration for providing BB with some alternative information that goes against the Anti AMLO narrative.

    4. As far as I'm concerned, I try to keep the dialog insightful and informative. I've always encouraged the both of you to fact check any information I post. It's you two that resort to name calling when you have nothing to refute the information I share. For the sake of this website, let's keep it constructive, regardless of who you support. Believe what you want, but again, I encourage you to fact check me if you think I'm sharing false AMLO information.

    5. 8:44 you aren't the only AMLO apologist on the site. A different chayotero always puts misleading or incorrect stats to make his government and peons look competent. As an example, he'll claim he's one of the 5 nation leaders with the highest approval ratings.

    7. ELMO chayotero:
A person who works as an internet influencer that doesn't get paid is called a fool.
Hugs not bullets is not a security strategy. I am part of the post World War II generation and lived through the 60's. Hippies had every idea under the sun to save humans from themselves but none of those ideas have worked and the hippies are now working for the same corporations that they protested against.
When people rob, rape, steal and extort, the only thing that works is to capture or kill the perpetrators. "Bed Peace" didn't end the war in Vietnam and "Hugs not Bullets" will not bring peace to Mexico.
You can cite all of the "statistics" that you like, but you cannot avoid the fact that more than 30,000 people are murdered every year in Mexico and many more thousands are disappeared each year. Mexico's homicide rate is nearly ten times that of the U.S. and when you include the disappeared the homicide rate of Mexico is more than twelve times that of the U.S..
The U.S. has homicides but not on the scale of Mexico. Killers don't casually load their victims into pick up trucks like what we have just seen in Matamoros. Criminals don't kill 300 people over several weeks and then the police don't enter the crime scene for years like we saw in Allende. The U.S. doesn't have killing fields like Bartolina.
Criminals fear the police in the U.S. because they know that the police will capture or kill them if they catch up to them. ELMO can keep hugging the criminals, but this "policy" will be no more successful than "Bed Peace".

    8. Well Detroit, that's your opinion and that's all it is, and you're entitled to it. I don't get paid for making my comments, so according to you that makes me a fool. If you're the AMLO antagonist and you don't get paid for making your anti AMLO comments, then maybe you're a fool right along with me. Como dice el dicho, "la zorra no se ve su propia cola, ni el zorillo su fundillo" now as far as AMLO not doing enough well, I beg to differ. If the U.S is in a desperate situation, like nation wide rioting or what have you, the national guard is sent in. Mexico didn't have a national guard, they had a corrupt federal police agency run by a corrupt government official. So what happens under AMLO? The federal police is dismantled, and absorbed by a new agency, the Guardia Nacional. Pretty much the same as the U.S national guard. Under AMLO the 40k security staff that was absorbed has increased to over a 120k! I dont know how many offices the federal police had prior to AMLO but I do know that under the current administration, close to 600 military post and barracks have been constructed in a little over 3 years. You do realize the logistic advantages to having this many military post throughout the country and how it will improve national security. In earlier post you praised SEDENA and GN for their work in combating crime, but I don't think you're aware that AMLO not only created the Guardia but put the agency under the responsibility of SEDENA. As a result of this move what has been the outcome? An increase in high profile operations and arrest. An increase in drug shipment seizures and dismantling of drug labs. Mind you, AMLO made it so that SEDENA is now in charge of all land and sea ports of entry, making it more difficult for these criminal organizations to operate. Now combating violence isn't all to running a country, their are still social, economic and environmental issues that must be addressed at the same time. You can't put all your eggs in one basket, and what has AMLO done? Addressed those issues as well. I could dive into those topics and list all of the national road projects, hydroelectric power projects, oil refinery projects, transportation projects, that in turn will generate jobs as an alternatives to a life of crime. Or the number of schools, universities, trade schools and hospitals created as social alternatives for disadvantaged communities who are more susceptible to the narco lifestyle, but that would be going into another long winded comment that I don't have the time or energy for. Especially if I'm not getting paid. Tee hee. And I get it Detroit, we all want to see Mexico succeed, that's the one common ground both you and I share, but 45 years of crime and corruption are not going away in a 6 year term. Not even the U.S can invade and destroy a country, install a puppet government and rebuild it to a functioning society in 6 years.

  2. Being a God fearing RIGHTFUL gun loving/ owning father husband unvaccinated Trump voter and blue collar American I am in no position to put the tragedy of the 4 thousand KNOWN female killings on AMLO. I will gladly put it on ALL the Mexican presidents and corrupt elites that live comfortably with armed protection in Mexico! Just as I put the disgusting corruption in the USA political swamp on all the presidents in the last 40 years no matter the party. Only a fool would believe that the conspiracy involving the corrupt political and gov agencies to sabotage trumps term and rig the election didn’t occur!

Trump lost the 2020 election and COVID is real. Trumptards had a higher death rate from COVID than the general population. Get in touch with reality and turn in your official Trump knee pads.

    4. 11:13 what does AMLO's INE reform do?
      1. It puts term limits on the institute's directors. The current director has been the head of INE for almost 30 years.

      2. It reduces the directors salary. The director for INE was making more than The Mexican president.

      3. Under this reform, a president can be criminally charged for election fraud.

11:13 Why would AMLO pass reforms that could potentially jeopardize his presidency if he committed election fraud? That makes no sense. He would be shooting himself in the foot by passing these reforms.

  7. The term "femicide" is losing all meaning and significance IMO. It seems now to be used to describe any killing of any female, even if it is an incident of domestic violence or a pre-meditated plan to eliminate a female for a financial motive. Its original meaning was the murder of a woman by a person or persons unknown to her for the purpose of sexual gratification or with a misogynic motive. It described a particular, atrocious kind of murder happening around the maquiladoras or related crimes of opportunity. So, this kind of statistic is qualitatively meaningless if you are trying to define and break down a problem--because it groups together a bunch of different classifications of killings that have different causes, offenders and motives. Doesn't Mexico have a mechanism to classify homicides? Or does it just throw them all together and shrug?
