US Government Informs Judge That Genaro Garcia Luna Cannot Be Transported to Courthouse for Hearing

 "Socalj" for Borderland Beat

Genaro García Luna has a court date tomorrow, November 30, 2022, in Brooklyn, NY. However, prosecutors have just told the judge that the US Marshals are "unable to transport the defendant for an in-person appearance."

No details as to why he is not able to be transported to the courthouse, but the hearing may still be held with GGL joining by phone or video from jail…

This is the second time that the US Marshals and MDC jail in Brooklyn have failed to make Genaro García Luna available for a court appearance. Routine dysfunction is more likely than a mysterious drama as the explanation." stated journalist Keegan Hamilton via his Twitter account.

Prosecutor Ryan Harris just told the court that the MDC wasn't ready to make GGL available for today's hearing via video feed: "there seems to be disconnect… we're advised that they cannot produce him today"

Last year, on December 8, 2021, Prosecutor Ryan Harris told the court that the MDC wasn't ready to make GGL available for today's hearing via video feed: "there seems to be disconnect…we're advised that they cannot produce him today." Lawyers agreed to reschedule today's hearing for a later date.

Yesterday, November 28, it was reported that Genaro García Luna's trial was postponed to January 17, 2023. On the same day, it was reported by Borderland Beat that "La Barbie" Edgard Valdez-Villarreal, a potential witness against Luna, and had cooperated with authorities in the past; was listed on the BOP Inmate Locator as NOT IN BOP CUSTODY anymore.

  4. They take the normal precautions , but this isn’t Mexico. He won’t mysteriously hang himself or end up killed by inmates. They’ll make sure he gets to court.
