National Guard General Killed In Zacatecas Operation

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

José Silvestre Urzúa Padilla was coordinator of the NG in the state.

Brigadier General José Silvestre Urzúa Padilla, coordinator of the National Guard in the state of Zacatecas, was murdered on Thursday.

The governor of Zacatecas, David Monreal, reported the death and sent condolences to his family and loved ones.

The governor gave instructions to report what happened as soon as possible.

We will not rest in our struggle to pacify the state and confront crime, the desire to which the general gave his life. May he rest in peace.

Local media reported that federal and state elements were participating in an operation in the municipality of Pinos.

The elements were attacked by armed civilians, leaving several federal agents wounded, who were transported by helicopter for medical attention.

The National Guard reported that the general "lost his life in the line of duty, while participating in a joint operation against organized crime".

We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Commissioner Urzúa Padilla, whom we will remember as an exemplary commander who gave his life to protect the citizens.

  9. I’m sorry to ask this dumb question but why is Zac so important to these traffickers? It’s always fighting going on in Zac. Are there a lot of poopy and marijuana fields there? Also I read an article that they found cocaine growing in Mexico. Why haven’t they tried to produce it instead of having to buy from Colombians ? Just some dumb questions from a dumb , but very curious gringo.

    1. Zacatecas connects the center and west of Mexico to the U.S. border, a crucial territory for drug-trafficking routes.

    2. Coca plant requires specific weather and land in order to grow. Colombia ,Peru Bolivia only.

    3. At this point in “narco history” Zacatecas is a more important plaza than michoacan .. why?? Why?? Simple, the same reason why Mexico doesn’t grow coca. It doesn’t matter, if you don’t control the geography you don’t have shit … all traffic moves south to north, the farther north your bastions are the better. Zacatecas has routes to move from south to North straight into Juarez, coauhuila and/or LaREDO.

      Delete
    4. Because of the natural resources its has like silver and uranium that the government wants people to leave the ranchos so other countries can start working those lands

    5. 7:35 Dont believe anything above although 10:11 has a good point.
The reason Zacatecos has always been important is it’s proximity to Nayarit, SIN, DGO and Jalisco. The state is very mountainous and there are few developed roads for hauling product y precursors through the state. For CDS it is also a diversification of routes as they move product to Juarez and East to Los Golfos and Monterrey.

    6. Right now, Zacatecas State is important for the Monriales Mob, el Recky La Quiere de Presidente...

    7. 1056 I wish I could smash a keyboard in your fucking face, somebody asked a question and he gets answers and you say oh none of the answers are correct above but listen to them yet they are literally a broad overview to what you claim as being the only right answer which is the most narrowest simple answer to a complex question like you're obviously probably freaking American and you never probably step foot in Mexico. So fuck you for putting down everybody that gave time to even respond to that gentleman asking question, you couldn't have just added like everybody's been adding to you other replies tell me where the things over said were wrong on the above replies you dumb fuck

    8. 1056 clearly a front line reporter that has ever put a foot on the land of Mexico that he so is an expert on Zacatecas, since he put everybody else's post down why don't you write yourself a goddamn Court except it just copying what people read from other people on the side acting like your information is so spectacular it's very clear that this person's asking the general idea of what's going on so tell me how everybody above apparently is inaccurate you asshole just like you say don't listen to anybody but don't listen to the anonymous that tells you not to listen to everybody above that he basically provided the same context

A Soldier deserves respect, regardless of how anyone feels. Once again, not ALL Soldiers are in the cut, some still fight for their country, this is her in Mx and everywhere else.

ONLY CRIMINALS TO GET A BAD WRAP ARE C.J.N.G, WHILE C.D.S CRIMINALS ARE HARDLY MENTIONED OR EVEN LOOKED FOR, IN THE EYES OF THE ZACATECAS GOVERNMENT, C.J.N.G IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CRIME. 1. It's like the Ukraine vs Russia war. The narrative is Russia is bad Ukraine is good, same thing that's happening in Zacatecas. authorities(the western world swept 8 years of bombing under the rug) completely ignore CDS it's like they dont even have presence in the region. The 3 levels of government are only focused on CJNG. No need for the whole over analysis. Its super evident.
