Federal authorities attribute Caro Quintero as the owner of large amounts of cocaine seized in 2021 in Mexico City

Authorities of the Mexican government recognized that the presence in Mexico City of a criminal group of drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero, who was released by previous administrations and for whom the DEA now asks for the highest reward on record.

According to data from Héctor de Mauleón, published in his column for the newspaper El Universal, intelligence reports from the federal government place Caro Quintero as the owner of two large cocaine seizures made in the country's capital.

Rafael Caro Quintero was captured for the murder of DEA agent Enrique Camarena, in 2010 he was transferred to the Jalisco prison after winning an injunction and there he took control of said prison, and then walked out the door before another legal victory.

Columnist Héctor de Mauleón recalled two major cocaine seizures in CDMX that are linked to Caro Quintero.

At the start of 2021, a truck overturned in Río San Joaquín Avenue and Ingenieros Militares Avenue, the SSC found 500 bricks of cocaine equivalent to half a ton there. Weeks later, the capital authorities and the Sedena searched the Coapa Super 4 subdivision; There they seized 800 kilos of cocaine, the largest seizure of the last decade with a value close to 11 million dollars.

THE RISE OF CARO QUINTERO IN THE MEXICAN NARCO WORLD

In May 2020, Rafael Caro Quintero returned to the crime scene, leaving two dismembered bodies and a message on a blanket on the highway to Caborca, Sonora. Since then, intentional homicides in this part of the country increased to 127 in that year, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.

Until October of this year, 92 murders had been recorded in the Sonoran municipality where the so-called Caborca ​​Cartel operates.

Caborca ​​is currently red in the Sonora Criminal Traffic Light and is part of the top five municipalities with the highest number of intentional homicides.

On September 9, the "war" for control in the Altar desert, between Caborca ​​and Pitiquito, in Sonora, left another five dead, three of them were left on the train tracks to be mutilated and decapitated; months ago there were shootings in the area for six days in a row, La Silla Rota published.

Quintero was arrested in September 1985 for the kidnapping and murder of Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, a DEA agent infiltrated in the extinct Guadalajara Cartel. After spending 28 years in prison, he was released in 2013 for an error in a sentence, the capo went back into hiding, without retiring from the drug trade.

    1. The Narcos I watched , saw him snorting allot of coca, and even going through withdrawals. He was unhappy that Felix geared the cartel more to come sales than pot, and his pot was rotting in barns
