"La Hormiga," Alleged CJNG Leader South of Zacatecas was Captured in Aguascalientes

"Socalj" and "HEARST" for Borderland Beat

Fernando Flores García, "La Hormiga", the alleged regional head of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) south of Zacatecas was captured in Aguascalientes.

A week after the Army and the National Guard arrested the 49-year-old man, the federal authorities finally confirmed that he operated in three municipalities of Zacatecas, where the CJNG maintains a territorial dispute against the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to the report, Flores García worked as plaza boss for Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, El Mencho, in the municipalities of Tabasco, Jalpa and Villanueva, joint demarcations on the Aguascalientes border, where the arrest was made on January 12.

Some local media had highlighted that he was a member of the criminal group led by Ismael Zambada García, El Mayo, but the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) refused to specify the membership of one of the two transnational crime factions. Until this January 20, which was reported by Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, Undersecretary of Security.

Security sources consulted by this media had already reported the secret operation led by the military during the night of January 12 in Aguascalientes. The local authorities were not summoned to help, they were only witnesses like the rest of the population of the deployment of soldiers and national guards.

The Sedena had to give a quick response to the events of violence in Zacatecas, where it assured on November 24 that they would be reinforced with more than 3,800 federal agents, but even with them, clashes continued, as well as multi-homicides in a struggle that was left growing up with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, without attending to it until seeing that the problem was already serious and desperate.

10 Bodies Left in Zacatecas Plaza de Armas

According to the official report, the alleged criminal leader was persecuted for what he ordered in the Zacatecas entity. Only until they challenged David Monreal and left him the 10 murdered in front of the Government Palace, were the operations intensified to find the location of La Hormiga.

“Authorities from the three levels of government attend to a criminal act registered in the municipality of Zacatecas. After a suspicious vehicle was detected on Avenida Hidalgo in the downtown area of the state capital, corporations from the three levels of government went to this area, where they located a Mazda CX3 truck, inside which, apparently, they find lifeless bodies,” reported the spokesperson for the State Public Security Secretariat.

In his message, Monreal said that after the first investigations it was possible to see that the person who brought the truck with the bodies to the Zacatecas Plaza de Armas later ran down the Las Campanas alley, which separates the building from the Government Palace. of the basilica cathedral of Zacatecas.

“That vehicle, according to the C5, entered the Quebradilla area at 5:14. Then at 5:20 they were leaving the vehicle in front of the palace with these lifeless bodies and whoever was driving it apparently ran down an alley,” added the president.

Having him on the radar, the National Guard and the Army began to approach him, something he noticed immediately and he moved to Aguascalientes, from where he maintained control of the battle. They started south, in the Santa Mónica ranch subdivision, around 10:50 p.m. Later, the armed group of about 80 agents arrived at Montes Himalaya street of the Los Bosques complex, until they decided to go to the residential area of Las Plazas, in a house where Fernando Flores García was staying.

There were no shootings or rescue attempts. It is presumed that the alleged criminal leader believed himself to be low profile by not standing out with vigilantes who could protect him. Nor was it reported that he tried to defend himself against the siege of agents. He is currently accused of various crimes in courts of Baja California, Coahuila, and Puebla.

The subject was arrested in 2015 when he was under the orders of Roberto Saavedra Santana, Commander Chiricuas, then head of the Gulf Cartel in Ciudad Mier.

Flores García in a photograph in 2015 when he was arrested and was a member of the Gulf Cartel, especially Los Metros cell. He was currently working for the CJNG and is related to violent events in the entity governed by the Morenista David Monreal.

In addition to the intelligence, efficiency, and speed of the operation to stop him, although he was still transferred to the Hidalgo Hospital for a medical check-up at seven in the morning on January 13, a couple of hours later he was transferred by air to the Mexico City.

They seized a kilo and a half of methamphetamine, 2,600 fentanyl pills, a 5.56 mm caliber rifle, 100 cartridges of various sizes, in addition to three magazines.

It should be noted that this is the first formal link between the CJNG and the criminal group that emerged and maintains its stronghold in Tamaulipas. Although the United States Drug Control Administration (DEA) assures that the Mencho control drug corridors in Nuevo Laredo and for this, they forged links with the Gulf Cartel.

  4. I seen this guy’s influence in Jalpa... but he himself remained in the shadows for the most part... very surprised there wasn’t at least 1 or 2 bodyguards tho considering he represented some pretty important plazas for Mencho... my hope is that Southern Zac doesn’t become violent like Northern Zac...

  5. Bodyguards mean nothing. The people closest to you are the ones who set you up. I read about an NYC Italian Mafioso. He whacked anybody the boss told him to, even his own friends. The telling thing is that when given a contract, he always insisted that he be the shooter. Not because he was bloodthirsty, but because he feared his own crew. They were the ones who would whack you. They called it "copping a sneak", when you went out on a job but you were the target.
To me, a "best friend" is also the guy who is playing footsies with your wife under the dinner table.

    3. 9:27 yup, there's no such thing as a best friend or a loyal wife.
If they can cheat they will and are sneaky about it.
Things i scratched of my list because i dont need, a best friebd and a wife.

As far as security, mexico is different. Mexican capos dont get killed much, they get caught and snitched on (by their bestie) but hardly killed. If they are killed its mostly by cops or soldiers
