Two Narcos Arrested After Shootout With Police In Reynosa

 "HEARST" for Borderland Beat

A police chase in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, going after three vehicles of heavily armed men ended with most of the presumed hitmen escaping; however officers managed to detain two stragglers.

At approximately 3:30 pm on November 29, 2021, law enforcement personnel watching government surveillance cameras (C-5 cameras) spotted three SUVs full of armed men in the San Valentin neighborhood of Reynosa. State Police officers were dispatched to follow the vehicles.

The police patrol cars caught up with the three SUVs near the Ventura neighborhood. The SUVs began accelerating, trying to lose the patrol cars, leading to a car chase through the city.

Few details are available on the police chase itself, but it reportedly ended in a gunfight in the Loma Real neighborhood. El Mañana newspaper reports that the other two SUVS with the armed men managed to escape through the gaps located at the back of the area where the gunfight occurred.

One SUV could not escape and the shootout led to the arrest of two armed men. Their Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was seized by police, along with bags of narcotics and ponchallantas (metal tire puncture devices).

The two men have since been identified as Edgar Eduardo Gaspar and Luis Santiago Cisneros. Social media user El Guzman alleges that one of the two men (unclarified which one) goes by the alias “El Cheto”, some sort of cartel figure in the nearby municipality of Camargo. They also say the other man is El Cheto’s bodyguard.

  1. Excellent 👍 catch, now we really get to see the faces and names of, what the criminals look like. Government gets involved, they are covered. Would have been nice, that the ones that escaped got badly injured by flying bullets.

    1. Do you mean the old cartel structure, the political powers that be or the general population, Billy? Because I'm not sure they're taking a poll of the civilians of Reynosa.
