CJNG Allegedly Freed Kidnapped Sailors in Exchange for Accounts Being Unfrozen

"Socalj" for Borderland Beat

Pablo Gómez's first action at the head of the FIU was to unblock CJNG accounts

On November 15, it was announced that two members of the Mexican Navy Secretariat (Semar) were kidnapped in Zapopan, Jalisco, by a cell from the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).

During the first hours of this Saturday, November 20, it was confirmed that the two elements of the Eighth Naval Zone of Puerto Vallarta were located alive. Raymundo Riva Palacio, in his daily column published in the Ejecentral medium, would have the answers, since he revealed that one of the kidnapped sailors was not just anyone, it was the head of Intelligence of Naval Zone 8, in Puerto Vallarta, so his rescue was listed as a priority.

José Rafael Ojeda Durán, head admiral of Semar, acted without permission from the National Palace, according to the journalist, to obtain the freedom of his element, who was allegedly deprived of his liberty by men sent by Laisha Michelle Oseguera González, the youngest of the children of Mencho.

This crime took place on the outskirts of a supermarket when the intelligence chief was parked in his official vehicle because the Army facilities in Guadalajara did not let him go through the alert that had come from the previous arrest of Rosalinda González, wife of Oseguera Cervantes.

A high-ranking sailor revealed to Riva Palacio that alleged "hawks" had warned the CJNG people about the presence of the uniformed man, as they thought it was "an intelligence operation."

The first response to the kidnapping was to search houses, including Laisha's, but without contravening the policy of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) not to confront them. For this reason, they decided to send a message to the CJNG, which was satisfactorily responded with the liberation of the sailors.

"The Navy received a message that El Mencho was not in the logic of opening another war front, in addition to the Sinaloa Cartel and the United States," wrote Riva Palacio.

However, this "favor" was not free. According to the text, the new head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Pablo Gómez, unfroze some of the 1,683 accounts that Santiago Nieto would have blocked from the CJNG at the request of the United States government of Joe Biden.

In addition, he stressed that the Presidency has issued orders not to capture El Mencho, despite the fact that three months ago they located the Jalisco farm where he was sheltered. The whereabouts were known, but the mandate was "to do nothing and carry out an only discreet surveillance," actions that allowed Oseguera Cervantes to escape to the south of Michoacán.

Neither was anything achieved with the alleged operation that sought to arrest Laisha Oseguera. “The operations seem limited to the dismantling of cells. The status quo is worrying,” highlighted Riva Palacio.

Finally, he mentioned that Washington authorities do not approve of the complicity between the drug cartels and the Mexican government, but for the latter, it seems that it works, because, in exchange for the accounts, which represent millions of dollars, they obtained an important element of the Navy, although it is not known whether his knowledge was used to with his captors, who, in one way or another, spared his life.

  1. Looking for more info regarding this (which is huge if true). Possible raid or location of the farm? Not finding much publicly about this.

  2. This article is soooo stupid. It's laughable. Joe Budden aunt stressing out over Mencho. Why would the U.S intervene in a Mexican No navy Sailors capture negotiations. The U S dosent even do anything for theirs in North Korea. Yet they are going to unfreeze accounts for a Mexican sailor...LOL

    2. You are misreading the article. It does not state that the US was involved or intervened to help get the sailors released. But that some of the accounts that the US government requested that Mexico freeze that are tied to the CJNG, were either unfrozen or blocked from being frozen in order to help secure the release of them.

  6. WTF. On so many levels. Ok so mencho stated he did not want to open another war front besides the ones he already has CDS and the U.S., so he acknowledges the he is in open war with the u.s. soooo let's bring it to him cmon now we have one of the best military forces in the history of the world and our politicians have us sitting on the sidelines, no disrespect to the men and women in law enforcement putting their lives on the line, but give the military 6 mo's and we could fuck up his infrastructure so bad we wouldn't have to set foot in Mex. With offensive manuevers in south and central America, ship embargoes for precursors coming from china to the ports of Lazaro Cardenas to b.c.n the military would wreak havoc on that menso. But leave it to the politicians to do what they do best, nothing. And for the revelations of the Mexican gov knowing where mencho was and doing nothing and then releasing millions or maybe billions of dollars!? Only in Mexico pinches muertos de hambre

    1. Fent precursors are increasingly coming in from Indian companies as well as some from Germany. Just an interesting fyi. China is the lions share but India has been ramping up supply chains. Obviously Germany and India are close allies regardless of what some greedy private companies do.

  7. No pudieron en Afganistán compa, the best military in history. Money talks mijo, US needs wars to have an excuse to sell weapons. Have you heard of plan Merida. Basically it’s the US giving millions of taxpayers money to Mexico in weapons sold by US gun manufacturers who lobby US politicians. The US was who started the narco wars in Mexico. Remember the pact was signed by Calderon and Bush who him and his buddies have a lot of interests in gun manufacturers.
