25 Kidnapping Victims Freed, 3 Kidnappers Arrested in Matamoros, Tamps

"HEARST" for Borderland Beat

Soldiers from the Army (SEDENA) arrested three alleged kidnappers who were holding 25 people hostage in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

The 25 victims were being held at #57 Sierra Rocallosa Street, which is located in the Las Cumbres neighborhood on the eastside of Matamoros city.

El Universal newspaper is currently reporting that the safehouse location, which was holding the kidnapping victims, was learned due to an anonymous call. Meanwhile Milenio newspaper is currently reporting that soldiers were on a routine patrol in the area when they spotted a suspected criminal who tried to flee, leading the soldiers directly to the safehouse where they heard people screaming for help.

Regardless of how they arrived at the locatio, at 3:30am on October 31, 2021, the soldiers executed a successful raid of the property.

Three armed men who were left to guard the hostages were disarmed and detained during the raid. Two 5.56 caliber firearms and one AK-47 style firearm were seized from their possession. Tactical vests, ammo and other equipment were also seized from the detainees. Another one of the captors managed to escape the area and remains at large.

Inside the property the soldiers found 25 hostages. According to La Tarde, all the victims were bound at both the wrists and the ankles, as well as blindfolded. 21 were male (with 2 of the males being minors) and 4 were females (with 1 of the females being a minor). When interviewed, the victims reported they were either from Matamoros, in Tamaulipas or from locations in the state of Veracruz.

It is not uncommon for kidnapping operations to small time groups who simply pay a larger cartel a fee for permission to do business.

Currently the blog Valor por Tamaulipeco is reporting that the captors belong to a group working under El Contador, a Gulf Cartel leader (Cartel del Golfo, CDG). However they do not provide any evidence for why they have made these allegations.

Left two are both M4 / AR15 style firearms, right is described as a "cuerno de chivo" (AK-47) in articles but appears to be either a AKMSU or a AK74U

Now, they could be wrong but if the reputable sources are saying it falls within Las Cumbres, that's what I've got to go with unless you have more information

    2. Well my Tia coca lives and it's Las Cumbres.
