CES arrest the alleged leader of ''Los Rojos'' in Morelos:
Francisco "N", identified as "El Muletas" , "El Chaparro" or "El Mocho" , allegedly exercised the floor and drug transfer.

An alleged regional leader of the Los Rojos crime group  was arrested after confronting police officers from the State Security Commission (CES) and attempting to flee, the agency said. In the community of  Cuautlita , in the municipality of Tetecala, members of the CES intercepted Francisco “N”, 28, identified as El Muletas , El Chaparro  or El Mocho , who was traveling aboard a sand-colored Tsuru vehicle.

According to the official information, the policemen stopped him when he realized that he was carrying a long gun; However, the now detained decided to flee on the dirt road of Las Calaveras.

"Upon realizing the action, the elements carried out a chase and meters later managed to reach the vehicle; feeling cornered, the driver began to make detonations against the officers, who managed to evade the aggression," the CES reported.  Consequently, the state police detained who he said was called Francisco "N", who is designated by the authorities as leader of Los Rojos, in the municipalities of Tetecala, Mazatepec and Miacatlán.

The criminal organization "Los Rojos" operates with special force in the states of Guerrero, Morelos and Puebla.

They are a group that emerges from the Cartel of Los Beltrán Leyva and started with the hand of former gunman, Chrysophore Rogelio Maldonado, who was killed in 2012 in a hospital in Mexico City.

The emergence of Los Rojos, with very aggressive methods and a greater tendency to confront its rivals, led Guerrero to be one of the most violent entities in the country.

Although Los Rojos have established themselves as an emblematic criminal gang, they still do not have the name or connections in South America, so they rely more on extortion and kidnapping than drug trafficking, becoming a more direct threat For the civilian population.

It is one of the few criminal organizations that has been led by a woman: Leonor Nava Romero, who was captured in Chilpancingo, Guerrero, in September 2013.

After a series of movements within the criminal organization, Santiago Mazari, aka “El Carrete”, he positioned himself as leader of Los Rojos.

Santiago Mazari was part of Beltrán Leyva's bodyguard group . However, the afternoon his boss was killed in an apartment in Cuernavaca, Morelos, he was away. A few days before he had been apprehended in the Mexican capital.

Ironically, that arrest saved his life and led to his rapid rise in power, leaving a trail of violence and blood in Guerrero and Morelos.

In 2008, "El Carrete" was arrested accused of crimes against health by Sedena. However, at the beginning of 2009 he was released , although he was found criminally responsible and charged with five years in prison and 100 days of fine.

After recovering his freedom with the payment of a bail of 5 million pesos, Mazari became the head of the Plaza de Amacuzac, Tetecala, Puente de Ixtla and Acatlán. And at the same time one of his uncles, Alfonso Miranda, became the municipal president of Amacuzac.

With the authorities on his side, it was only a matter of time before he ended up becoming the absolute leader of Morelos , a state adjacent to Guerrero.

According to the journalist Héctor de Mauleón, “El Carrete” financed political campaigns, imposed police chiefs and killed thousands of rivals; among them officials, candidates and police.

Mazari Hernández, 43 years old, was arrested again on August 1, 2019 and held in the maximum security prison of Puente Grande, in the state of Jalisco.

After the capture of "El Carrete" his children were wanted as alleged responsible for the increase in violence in the state of Morelos.

Alexis Oswaldo Mazari was arrested on September 24, while Edwin was arrested on December 21 in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, accused of participating in the kidnapping and murder of two young men, one of them minor, the Prosecutor’s Office reported. Morelos He was transferred to the “Morelos” Social Reintegration Center in Atlacholoaya, municipality of Xochitepec.

  1. A cartel that does business primarily kidnapping and extorting civilians who not in the game should be priority number one for eradication.

  2. @Yaqui: another way to phrase "ironically, that arrest saved his life and led to his rapid rise in power" would be: 'soon after el Carrete was apprehended his boss was located and killed and el Carrete was left to take over the organization'.

    Just my 2¢
