Citing a humanitarian gesture,
if granted, Mariel Colon Miro Law Offices of Michael Lambert Esq filed a request
yesterday with the court that El Chapo be granted permission to “briefly” greet
or hug his wife Emma, on the opening day of trial.

allowed to speak to his wife in any manner, telephone, letter or face to face,
since his arrival in New York City.
The rigid restrictions
imposed are called SAMS or “Special Administrative Measures”. The controversial SAMS, were created after
911 and were intended to be used in terrorists cases.
In the case of El Chapo
he was not allowed any contact with anyone including family and the press. He
was not afforded privacy during conversations with his attorneys. This action
was to prevent conspiracy and criminal activity.

Defense attorneys cannot prepare an effective defense for their client when the government watches in on their conferences. This practice is unconstitutional and should be objected to.
