Bloody war for power in Sinaloa

After a series of internal fights, experts believe that the "New Generation Jalisco Cartel" will displace them all; After the extradition of "El Chapo", there is a power vacuum, only "El Mayo" remains, they say.

Made in Sinaloa. It is the seal of the main Mexican drug traffickers founders of the organization that bears the same name and has survived more than two decades of fighting and betrayals.

Although it was created by relatives and real good friendships, which emerged for more than 27 years ago, today the Sinaloa Cartel is fragmented and in dispute. If the internal problem is not resolved, the New Generation Jalisco Cartel (CJNG) could be the organization that will take control, warn the experts on the issue.

Antonio Mazzitelli, regional representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), says that El Chapo Guzmán's organization has become the most powerful in the world.

"With the recapture and extradition of El Chapo to the US, only one leadership remains there, the one of Ismael El Mayo Zambada, which means there is a power vacuum."

Alejandro Hope, a security analyst said, that the Sinaloa Cartel has had several fragmentation's, the most important was when the Beltran Leyva left the group that they originated "a bestial dispute". He reports that the group that was headed by Arturo Beltrán had contacts with the leaderships of the Colombian organizations, and a total access to Sonora and the United States.

The beginnings go way back to the conformation of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1970, headed by Miguel Angel Félix Gallardo, The Godfather; Rafael Caro Quintero, Narco de Narcos, and Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo, Don Neto. All under the school of Pedro Avilés Pérez, pioneer of the drug trade in Mexico.

There was also Héctor El Güero Palma, one of the closest to Félix Gallardo, and Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán, who was beginning to become notorious in the 1980s.

"The matrix is the old Guadalajara Cartel, there was a break up with the Carrillo, the Arellano and five factions were form: that of El Chapo, El Mayo, the Beltran, Nacho Coronel and El Azul; Of those old leaders only El Mayo and maybe El Azul are left, "says Alejandro Hope.

Felix Gallardo felt betrayed when he learn that El Güero Palma was looking to do his own drug business; That was the trigger for the first breakup that gave rise to two cartels between 1989 and 1990, The Tijuana Cartel, headed by the Arellano Felix and Sinaloa, headed by Hector Palma, Joaquin Guzman Loera and later would include Ismael El Mayo Zambada, Juan Jose Esparragoza El Azul and Ignacio Nacho Coronel, who left the Juárez Cartel headed by Amado Carrillo Fuentes, the Lord of the Skies.

The first arrests. Caro Quintero, Fonseca Carrillo and Félix Gallardo went to prison for the kidnapping and murder of DEA agent Enrique Camarena Salazar and pilot Alfredo Zavala Avelar in February 1985. The road was cleared for the Sinaloa Cartel.

Over time that organization began to gain a lot of power, so much power to became the most important drug cartels in the world, to do so it had alliances with others, for example, Los Beltrán Leyva. Antonio Mazzitelli said, that organization was successful with Joaquín Guzmán Loera thanks to innovation in drug trafficking, opening new markets and routes, as well as the ability to solve internal problems. In time, Guzmán Loera was arrested in June 1993 in Guatemala and transferred to Mexico to be imprisoned in Puente Grande. The group was still together and he was operating from prison. The business was growing, and the clashes with the other cartels were growing as well, while El Chapo prepared his first prison escape with the help of Dámaso López Núñez, El Licenciado. Guzmán Loera escaped in January 2001.

The Sinaloa Cartel began to spread, gaining ground in Sonora, Nayarit, Colima, Durango, Baja California, Guanajuato, Michoacan, Zacatecas, Guerrero, Coahuila, Tlaxcala and Puebla. The Guzman dynasty grew. Joaquín Guzmán procreated children with Alejandrina Salazar Hernández, they were César, Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo; With Griselda Lopez he had Joaquin, Ovidio, Griselda and Edgar; Years later with Emma Colonel, niece of Nacho Colonel, he procreated to twins.

With the so-called war against drug trafficking, the other criminal organizations were weakened in their structures and finances. In January of 2008 Alfredo Beltrán Leyva, El Mochomo was captured. His brother Arturo El Barbas accused El Chapo of delivering him. In May of that same year Edgar Guzman, son of El Chapo, was assassinated, and it was presumed that it was the revenge of Arturo Beltrán Leyva. The confrontations between these two organizations also occurred when Alfredo Beltrán, El Mochomito, reached the leadership.

In February 2014, eight years after the drug war began, Joaquín Guzmán was arrested and transferred to El Altiplano. The organization began to have internal problems before the possible extradition of Guzman; However, El Chapo still had the command along with El Mayo Zambada and Jose Esparragoza, El Azul. He showed his power and command with his second escape in July 2015, but in January 2016 his recapture was announced. The internal conflicts increased with the extradition of El Chapo. It was clear in the entity by the tens of clashes.

Martín Robles Armenta, Deputy Attorney for Justice of Sinaloa, stated that in the first 28 days of 2017 at least 58 people were executed. According to the local prosecution, between January 21 and 28, 25 more murders were committed in various parts of Mazatlan. The first weekend of February, according to the prosecutor's office, there were at least 12 others killed in various criminal acts.

Aureliano Guzmán, El Guano, brother of Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, fights for the leadership against his nephews Iván and Alfredo Guzmán. But the sons of El Chapo denounced a few days ago, in a letter that is not yet authenticated, that Dámaso Lopez had attacked them when they had been summoned to a meeting where El Mayo would be present. Another character that, although external to the Sinaloa Cartel, is in the dispute and is Fausto Isidro Meza, El Chapo Isidro, who controls what remains of Los Beltrán Leyva with his cell of Los Mazatlecos. "Now there is a fight between the sons of El Chapo, Aureliano and Damaso. It will continue to be fragmented and the inter-generational dispute will result in a new group. Outside they face El Chapo Isidro and the New Generation Jalisco Cartel, "says Alejandro Hope.

Antonio Mazzitelli affirms that the role of El Mayo will be fundamental. "The new [the sons of capos] are not willing to find negotiated solutions and want to fight. The Jalisco Cartel could be the successor of what was the great organization of the Sinaloa Cartel in the face of internal weakness. "

  1. It's impossible that a foreing cartel can take over Sinaloa say nuthuggers! But money talks plain and simple. If CDS don't get it's shit together this might happen although in the mid to long run!

  4. Check this out.. mayo rather work with Mencho than el damaso or los chapitos. He is already clicked up with Mencho in la paz. All this internal infighting and mayo is going to snap and take over sinaloa with help from Mencho. People from Sinaloa keep saying no michoacano will ever step in Sinaloa but I HIGHLY think he will. Just like he took control of the Guadalajara cartel that was once ALL sinaloas after the fall of Nacho coronel because there was no one that had strong leadership. You see the same situation in Sinaloa but with no leader to step in and stop the fighting. To many chiefs not enough Indians... R.I.P CDS

    1. the reason mencho took over guadalajara, was becasue first he set up el lobo from the valencias the people he worked for, the valencias would do nachitos dirty work, he let them operate in guadalajara and brought them into the business, then mencho set up nachito when he went to durango for a meeting, mencho took advantage and with his colaboraters set up nachito for them to take over guadalajara.. nachito had guadalajara on lock he would even walk in plaza andares with his family thats true power. thats when cds started the feud with mencho.

Mexicos people ,landscape and culture hav been deeply scared and altered by the many cells and factions of the various cartels destruction through out the years but one entity remains at the top a highly sophisticated core group that's been around since generations upon generations a "brand" you might say Cartel de Sinaloa if they can weather the onslaught of infighting and hostile take overs they may yet survive the storm but I feel now since Mr Guzman is currently incarcerated , the ship is sailing the high seas with no1 at the helm. And CJNG is knocking at the wheelhouse

  13. This bears all the hallmark of the doing of the DEA. In fact DEA's kingpin strategy only has one goal: to reduce and prevent the political clout of the drug capos. By fracturing the cartels into smaller units there will be less chance of their bosses meddling in politics. In the end the dope supply chain outside of the US will look a lot more like the the US domestic dope retail market where there are many many small players competing with each other.

the goal is of course not to stem the flow of drugs.

    1. You already know how the water flows. It has always been in the Americans interests to prevent the Capos from opening their eyes a little bit to much. That is why Calderon started the war on the Narcos. Most of the time the people killing others are actually military or goverment trying to cause fueds between groups to fracture them even more. The Guadalajara Cartel was the closest thing to real unity the Narcos of Mexico and even central America ever came to uniting. The Capos are just to stupid or to scared to risk what they will loss eventually the actual prize will always be the political power something Pablo Escobar understood but never achieved. With or without drug trafficking all of Latin America would still be dealing with poverty, crime and death. The Monroe Doctrine no power shall ever rise or establish dominance in America's zone of influence. That is why the US of A has always vigorously funded dictatorships fought anti government guerrillas in Colombia and all of Latin America and has always hated Fidel Castro and killed off Che Guevara. Never or rarely do you hear about what is happening not just in Mexico but in all of Latin America one word corruption, theft and killings. The end goal to prevent Latin America from uniting into one Union or Nation. This same principal is used all over the world.

  21. I think it's all perspective. I doubt there is a real power struggle as much as we think there is. First off Mayo is the boss. The rest is history. BLO is aligned with or has been largely absorbed by CJNG. Chapos faction is run by his brother and his sons. Damaso has control for now of BCS. Mayo and CJNG has Tijuana. There's less struggle and more business as usual. Most of the violence has been Chapos kids wiping out Damasos and BLO in retaliation for the kidnapping and less to do with Chapo getting extradited. CJNG has slowly been doing what it always does letting groups infight on their own and then moving in to fill power vaccums. Thus how they've grabbed parts of Nayarit/Guerrero when the BLO lost it's plazas there. Chapo Isidro has his own organization and is not affiliated with BLO or CJNG. And it wouldn't surprise me if he's working with the Sinaloa Cartel when it suits all parties involved.

BLO absorbed by CJNG jaha this is the dumbest thing i have ever heard , the Beltran - Carrillo family will never go away theyre too powerful and wealthy .The beltran leyva and Carrillo fuentes are related why dont we ever hear of gunbattles between cartel de juarez and BLO? because there is mutual respect and support . BlO left CDS and started to work with Zetas and so did cartel de Juarez . If CJNG was a threat to the beltran leyva family you guys better believe that the oldest armed wing of all the cartels [ La Linea ]would go to Jalisco and wipe out Mencho and his entire family this is a mafia i dont know who told you guys that CJNG was actually a threat to anyone, they maybe a threat to themselves and the michocanos but they will never intimidate Sinaloa capos much less go to war with them. CJNG is overexaggerated, dont compare some idiot from Miochoacan Mencho who is who he is now because his daddy Nacho Coronel put him there ,and if CDS put him there they can easily take him down. By the way Martin beltran Coronel" el aguila" ,CDS, nephew of nacho coronel is in charge of Jalisco and not mencho how you guys all think. But how would you guys now anything

Never in your mind will you know what is going on because even I barely know enough to know that what you think is turned the other way around. CJNG atleast the leadership goes all the way back to the Guadalajara Cartel and most likely farther than that. This isn't their first rodeo. The Capos that don't understand that they aren't as powerfull as they would like to think never last ask Chapo about that ask Nacho ask El Chayo ask los Beltranes ect. The Narco world is tiny compared to what real power is. Political power will always be the ultimate power. It has alway been that and it will always be.

  29. To get rid of the Sinaloa Cartel you would have to get rid of all the crime families that reside there. Complete extinction of families that have been in and around moving weight for decades. I don't think the CJNG has that in them to pull it off. If the Sinaloa leadership shifts it will stay within Sinaloa, people and families who are from there not CJNG who would be considered an outsider. We are also displacing the longevity of El MAYO, he has always seemed to be able to shift and align his partnerships. He might have something up his sleeve.

It's diferent in this situation because from Michoacan and Sinaloa make many capos and now it's the first time a capo from Michoacan wants all the power. Usually michoacan is low key and don't care about running the show as long as they get their money. But Mencho is hungry and did take Guadalajara cartel over and even changed the name to the state (jalisco) instead of just the capital. Now he's expanding even further but who knows how far he will get.. they all get caught or killed eventually.. even mayo has his day just watch..

Sometimes I think it's better leaving the people in power that maintain the most stability. I know people want the CARTELS to end. But I feel that taking these old school guys is just going to cause more Hot Headed people coming in and just causing more problems. These guys need to stick to just the business of drug dealing and stop killing and kidnapping innocent people..But I know that's just wishful thinking of my part. RESPECT to the guys that have made it big in the lifestyle cause it's not an easy thing to do.

There is old school characters that used to work with CAF that are still active and since the organization was tremedously weakened, they decided to make an allience with CJNG, and thus forming the CTNG, which is a combination of CJNG-CAF, therefore I would argue that they are still active.

After thinking on it for several days I feel I could ad to the article in a less negative way than I did . I think that story could have been done different and generated more sympathy toward the suicide victim . That article only blamed the north American "Gringo" government . The story is most likely more complex than how it was portrayed . It seemed to be the type that hardened peoples views from both sides of the mindsets . It could have been done far better in my opinion .

  41. Hey I'm asking a legit question. Why are drugs the same price all over the west coast different prices in different cities but the same in the individual cities. Obvisoily farther from the border more. But how can the prices be the same with atleast these 2 and probably more cartels supplying the west coast. Do they bosses set prices together but still have the low level criminals kill each other to get more across the border than the other?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Different cartels that's why my opinion. That's what happened in Cancun where another cartel was giving purer drug for half the price. That's when cartels have problems amongst them I baleive. I saw in clandestino episode that the bosses set the prices and if you sell cheaper then you have problems with the bosses

      Delete
    2. That's not what I was asking or saying. What I was asking was if the leaders from diffeeent cartels come together for the sake of business and set prices toghether for the underlings to follow I.E. the Guzmans set prices with mencho , damaso and whatever other major cartel leaders even though the underlings are killing each other. Because here on the west coast prices are the same i.e. If a key of coke is 26k in Los Angeles it's 26k all over La for those connected. Head to the Bay Area same thing. So how can that be if they aren't working?

      Delete

    5. Hmm that is a interesting topic. I don't believe she/he was referring to retail prices while are pretty standard. I believe he was referring to wholsale prices being the same. Which does make one wonder if the likes of Guzman and mencho even though sworn enemies do indeed communicate to set wholsale prices. Does anyone actually have any info on that maybe someone read in a law enforcement publication or maybe one of these keyboard narcos is actually not a keyboard narco and knows?

      Delete
    6. Prices are nor set in the USA wtf

      Delete
    7. Foo the bosses do set the prices. If you in la and in the wholsale Coke game or any other major city you would know prices are set in each city with 2-3k variance at most. Which is base on the prices the bosses set it mex as what product needs to be sold for even if you are moving to border with own money.

  55. Pretty fucked up when people say 'taking out the trash fuck them, kill more!' Because it seems a majority of the time they're not cartel members killing cartel members. Cartels pick up random innocent people off the street and torture, mutilate and dismember these people and use them as propeganda and for sending a message to rivals. Just like a couple years ago when zetas (I think) picked up all those people and dumped their bodies all over the road. Most of them were of no relation to cartels or drugs and just at the wrong place at the wrong time. And I know people then we're also cheering and applauding the cartel for 'cleaning the streets of cartel scum'. Then later on it was revealed that majority of the bodies were of innocent people. One of them was a 14 or 15 year old boy that was on his way to pickup food for his chickens when he got grabbed.

How many kids and families have been murdered in the last week alone? Cartels don't seem to follow any code or have any honor anymore. Women and children were off limits in the mafioso world but that old school code seems to be long forgotten.

We live in a fucked up world where we cheer and almost lust for these events to happen because we accept that it's ok and that gangsters are supposed to die. It's all part of the plan. What a bunch of Fucking savages we've become. No humanity left in us anymore. We've traded our souls and humanity for money and drugs and stuff. Stuff is more important to us now then anything else. Didn't mean to type a novel but fuck it's despressing thinking about this shit.

If you think for one second your life doesn't revolve around money or things then you're completely delusional. We're slaves to money m8 plain and simple. I never said anybody is guilty of anything either what the fufk you talking about m8?

My whole post was directed at the savagery and disregard for life that we've evolved into. And how we can just make ourselves feel better about the massacres that happen not only in Mexico but around the world, by simply saying 'they deserved it, they were cartel members or gang members'. Time and time again it's been proven that so many of the victims were just innocent people in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And again my post wasn't even directed at cartels or police or any specific group or profession. Humanity is gone in this world and we've willingly become slaves to money and stuff and drugs. Very few people exist anymore that aren't being manipulated and controlled into consumerism. It's a sad thing to think about. And despite how you may think you're not a part of that group, you are. Obviously you completely misinterpreted my post because I can't figure out how your answer relates to my post m8
