A 16-year-old boy was killed by gunmen inside a church in the Mexican Pacific resort city of Acapulco, but the motive for the killing has not been determined, state prosecutors said last Wednesday.

The boy was gunned down Tuesday inside the Parroquia del Niño Jesus in Acapulco's Juan R. Escudero district after being chased by several armed men, the Guerrero state Attorney General's Office said.

The shooting occurred around 5:00 p.m. while Mass was being celebrated at the church, police said.

The boy was shot several times in the head and back, police said.

AG's office crime scene investigators gathered evidence at the church, finding at least 14 bullet casings from 9 mm firearms.

Acapulco, located in the southern state of Guerrero, has become one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America due to its high murder rate.

The Pacific resort is the third most violent city in Latin America, with a homicide rate of 104.73 per 100,000 residents, the Citizens Council for Public Safety and Criminal Justice said in a report released earlier this year.

Several gangs that split off from the Beltrán Leyva drug cartel have been waging a turf war in the resort city for months.

A total of 1,052 murders occurred in Acapulco, according to National Public Safety System figures, in the first half of this year.

  2. How terrible. Was the boy an innocent victim or was the hit a result of his involvement in illicit activities?

I am not religious but it is sad that even a place that most hold as sacred is not respected. Also, where is god when you need him? Oh yeah, everything happens for a reason and he pulls strings as needed. Mhmm...

  3. Hijo del chapo secuestrado?

  4. If you're going to get killed, I supposes that's a better place than most. If you're a Catholic, that is.

  5. they couldnt wait for mass to be over? smh

  6. Acapoopoo makes Chicago look like one of the safest big cities in North America. Not even one ounce of respect given to God, the congregation or the church itself. At the very least if you have to kill him drag him outside and do the deed. What kind a damage could this kid have cause at the age of 16? Savages!!!!

    1. Narcos don't give a rat's ass where it is.Come on if they can kill parent's in front of their children in their own home why would they care if it's in a place of worship?Besides the narcos don't worship, only $$$$ is their God.They have no respect why would a church be any different?

  7. "What kind a damage could this kid have cause at the age of 16? Savages!!!!"

Well..A lot, maybe he was a little scumbag Halcon(lookout). This kid could have been involved in a kidnapping, where a family member was tortured then murdered, after the family paid a ransom. Think about it.

Or maybe he was an innocent victim, that just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time..... If so, god please forgive me for my callous statement.. But, I fucking doubt it.

  8. Le metieron plomo pobre chavalon
