CJNG narco tunnel, similar to the tunnel at Altiplano discovered in Tijuana

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Proceso article with additional pictures and video from Zetatijuana.

[ Subject Matter: Narco Tunnel, Tijuana

Reporter: Proceso Redaction
A narco tunnel of 800 metres by 3 metres was discovered in the frontier between Tijuana and San Diego, California this past Wednesday by elements of the Federal Police and the Centre for National Security Investigations (cisen).

In the operation, the armed forces detained 16 alleged narco traffickers, one from Tijuana and the rest from Sinaloa, that were operating for the CJNG and were about to transport 10 tonnes of Marijuana in packets to the United States.

The discovery, signalled the National Commission for Security and Communication, was the product of weeks of investigative work in the office and field.

The narco tunnel, is similar to that used by "El Chapo" Guzman to escape Altiplano prison this past July.

The Federal elements located a bodega in the Calle Fray Junipero Serra, in the Garita de Otay Colonia in Tijuana where there has been intense vehicle movements entering and leaving, apparently delivering drugs to be delivered through the tunnel to the United States.

With search warrant in hand, this Wednesday past they entered the property and " without having to fire a shot", surprised the alleged narco traffickers, signalled a communication.

At the location, 16 men who ages are between 21 and 50 years old, and who were presented before the Public Ministry of the Federation admitted working as drug traffickers. They also admitted having links to the CJNG.

While searching the venue, the Federal Police found deep access to an underground passage that leads to US territory. The tunnel it at a dept of 10 meters and is 800 meters in length, 600 meters under the Mexican side of the frontier and 200 meters into the USA side of the frontier.

Location of the tunnel, best I can figure from data released so far, click to enlarge

The passage was built with metal reinforcements to prevent collapse, a lighting and ventilation system hooked up to a battery system, as well as rail system to transport the drugs.

After the operation, the Federal Forces confiscated 873 packets of Marijuana wrapped in plastic and adhesive tape, with a combined weight of nearly ten tonnes.

They also confiscated vehicles and other particulars that were put at the disposition of the Federal Ministry, together with the drugs and the detainees, informed the CNS

    4. True 11:59am; but what tells me it wasn't CJNG is the volume of mota, sophistication of tunnel. CJNG's hustle is Tina and white bitch and to score that much mota requires a lot of middle men who've been working the pueblitos, ejidos, and sierra back roads for years. 10 tons is huge and between product and loss of tunnel this bust cost Mayo some serious zeros and commas!

  5. I don't get it Chivis maybe you can weigh in here. I'm not Mexican or American but I wonder if the allegations of collusion between the traffickers and the government and military is so strong, then why all these busts?

TEN TONS of weight is no joke,
Cartel Capos in Prison is no joke,
shootouts between the military and cartel sicarios is no laughing matter
Executions and tortures are not exactly primetime entertainment

Maybe there's some dynamics I'm missing? Again I'm just looking to be informed cos it seems sort of contradictory to me

      and they lie and fabricate.

Mexico "Lie to truth formula" rule of thumb

Anything negative against the gob multiply the number given by gov by 2-3 to attain a semblance of anything close to accuracy.

Anything positive towards the gov divide by 2 or 3

They can fabricate anything when no one is checking

Collusion not only exists on every level of government, Calderon himself said before leaving office, collusion and corruption in border states and all narco plazas are at 100%, not 80, not 90% of them...ALL of them at the municipals level, city hall, police, media, etc all.

    1. I would say so.

Back in the day LFM/CT and CDS dominated after CDS set up and informed on AFO.
Since the weakening of AFO; and the fall of LFM/CT; CDS has really pushed for control of La Baja.
Seems like CJNG must be in the plaza if rivals are trying to bring heat on their operations.
There have been a lot of bust on Chapos CDS faction.
If CJNG is fighting CDS for LA Baja or Colima and Veracruz that's the only way AFO will start operating again. Since they had parts of Colima Oaxaca and Veracruz at one time.
Seems like CDS thinks they have the manpower to fight BLO Zetas Juarez CJNG CT and internal fights.

    3. Actually Mexican dirt weed is a thing of the past. Many cartels learned about sin semilla weed and potent strains. I was watching a documentary on cartels in Sinaloa. No fuckig wonder Sinaloa grows opium and marijuana the climate and enviorment is fruitful.
The plants there looked like real good shit maybe some of the plants are premature or the compacting takes away from the quality but as long as it hasn't been sprayed with water that was heavy metal chemicals and its lime green funky skunky why wouldn't you pay 500 a brick if its some actual good shit and not dirt brown weed?
I don't see the cannabis business going away even with Kush dominating the market. People in places up north don't mind brick weed.

Also at my kids school (which I'll assume from your comment is a zip code you could not attain) the rich kids get busted with the Mexican dirt weed they steel from their parents. So perhaps it's only stoners that care to smoke weed with THC content that makes you dumber by the hit.

  20. Probably the reason why the tunnel was similar to Chapos tunnel is because it is Chapos.tunnel and wss leased out to CJNG for this transfer. I don't think each individual cartel have their very own tunnel. I hope the people in the hurricanes path are ok.

  23. This is the tunnel that was uncovered by an undercover agent working at the tunnel site. It was shut down as they were set to deliver its first shipment of marijuana bales. the Feds shut it down on both sides and arrested everyone. The feds found out about the tunnel while it was being built and they let them finish so that they can catch everyone on the US side. This way they can collect more Intel on who's driving the crews on both sides of the border. And of course knowing that tunnels store large amounts of drugs before being delivered they waited patiently. And yes.. all sinaloa crews are being directed to tell the feds they work for other cartels when they are caught. Its being done in Juarez and apparently now Tijuana. Hence.. They can't really give Intel on their own organization and they point the finger to the other organization ..and things and heat up for the enemy. Reorganization of CDS. Saludos.Mediador.

  24. Well, cartels without a border crossing have to pay quota on loads they move through a particular plaza. Who says those loads have to be moved through the plaza on vehicles. It would be just as easy to pay another cartel to move your load through their tunnel. As long as you pay the quota, its business. Doesn't matter where the load originates.

So you deliver your load, and the tunnel operators move the drugs through, and your contacts in USA pick up the load on the other side. The operators could then claim they had a connection to, and were working for CJNG when they were arrested. At least that's my humble opinion

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So true. That is what they all did in the 90s. With all the wars i guess less quotas were paid but it probably still happens and makes sense. CJNG don't control any border so they pay CDS to move their drugs. They are obviously not at war.
